Need advice on Cognac

So I had a request this Thanksgiving to bring a bottle of Cognac for an after dinner drink. I never really drink it so I have no idea what to get. Anyone out there have any recommendations for a $40-50 750 mL bottle? I know of Hennessy and Remy VSOP/XO but I'm not trying to throw a record release party. Thoughts?

Remy Martin 1738 Accord Royal
Great cognac that's inside your budget. 1738 is the best bang for your buck in cognac IMHO. The XO is better but outside your price range.

Replied on O-T, I know you said Cognac, but I gotta say "Cardinal Mendoza", Spanish Brandy is awesome and will fit your budget and thrill your mouth! We're cracking 2 of them tomorrow...can't wait! A fine Port to follow for sunset @ the camp, Thanksgiving afternoon. Enjoy1
