Germans, I know. But it is nice to see the actual statistics. The original source is from a NMSU publication.
While Louisiana may not supply the most FBS rosters per capita, the state is HEADS AND HEELS the best at producing blue chip talent per capita.
EDIT:
Please remember this is per capita
It's not saying the top recruits and best talents are always found in Louisiana. It simply states that you have the highest probability of finding such a talent when population is factored.
We know that Texas, California, and Florida always have elite talent coming from their states. This is without a doubt true, but the publication really puts it into perspective: you should expect them to do so when they claim 3 of the 4 most populated states in the country.
Surprisingly, California (37Mill) is at or below the national norm in both categories. Also, Louisiana is the only state scoring 2x the national norm in both categories.
TL;DR Parenting in Louisiana: you are doing it right.

Am I missing something? It looks like Louisiana is tops at both.

Hawaii is first in the FBS Rosters map.

It is a well known fact to college coaches that there is enough speed in Louisiana to go around for more than just LSU. Talent is plenty here!

No qbs, no linebackers til last year, not dts this year. LA alone wont win you titles. Thats why its been very important that Les has looked else where when the state is lacking certain positions.

Completely agree. But it has to be nice knowing he has an innate farm system with a high density of quality talent.

Agree that LA alone is not enough but we could easily take 15-17 kids from LA every year(and have been the past few years) and compete with the best.
QB-imperative that we recruit OOS
RB-Plenty in LA. Rarely do we need to go OOS but we do because we want the best
WR-plenty instate but we seem to pass on most of the ones with size, at least lately. Shelby Christy is the one we're passing on this year that easily could've been a take.
TE-we can usually stay instate here but we need to go OOS in most years if we want a true pass catcher. Hopefully the John Thomas, Desean Smith, Jacorey Washington trend continues
OL-Can usually take 2-3 a year instate but we always need a guy or 2 from OOS
DE-cyclical. Some years the state is loaded with them and some years not so much. Still never a year goes by where at least 1 kid instate is good enough for LSU. It just depends on whether we choose to take them or not.
DT-the state produces them but it seems that they always have grade issues, at least the borderline ones that are 50/50 for an offer. OOS seems to be a trend we like for DT recruiting
LB-starting to heat up after years of limited prospects. I think it will continue. Athletes with size now know that LB is a great avenue to college
CB-always 1-2 guys worth a shot but with our preference for size, we tend to look OOS a good bit.
S-pretty good track record but never hurts to look OOS.
