| #8 all-time single season passing yards (Posted on 11/18/12 at 9:35 am)
With yesterday's performance, Zach Mettenberger now has 2,272 yards passing. He moved past Tommy Hodson's 1986 season total of 2,261. With one more game and a bowl, he has a legit shot at throwing for the 3rd most yards in a season in school history. His next completion will tie Jeff Wickersham's 1984 season for 10th place on the all-time single-season list. Yards Player Year 3,347 Rohan Davey 2001 3,129 JaMarcus Russell 2006 2,825 Matt Mauck 2003 2,655 Tommy Hodson 1989 2,542 Jeff Wickersham 1983 2,443 JaMarcus Russell 2005 2,407 Matt Flynn 2007 2,272 Zach Mettenberger 2012 2,261 Tommy Hodson 1986 2,166 Jordan Jefferson 2009

Good for him, sad commentary about our qb position over the years.

He shouldn't be by the end of next season.

I definitely think he can be a 3,000 yard passer if we need him to be. He's really come on strong. I know there are a lot of variables, but if we ran this type of offense all season we wouldn't have lost to Florida. Of course the defense seems to have relaxed too much for my taste since the offense came around, but we'll get it worked out.

Crazy how ho-hum teams like LSU and Bama have been in the passing game over the years.

Think about all the drops and where he'd be at

One thing that is definitely clear from that list is that Miles' teams don't throw the ball enough. /sarcasm

The difference between Rohan and J-Rock is Josh Reed's Bama game.

The main problem was execution and drops. The young OL took time to take shape and the WRs were not playing well at all.

You don't think he will get 400 yards over the next two games?

I agree completely. I think this year is worth it all if we found a QB, solidified the OL, and developed some receivers. If we finish 11-2 and set ourselves up for next year, this season was a success, I don't care what our preseason ranking was.

What year did we go to 12 games per year instead of 12. I believe Rohan did his in an 11 game season plus the bowl.
