If The Mushroom is still open, go there. As for live music, there are plenty of small clubs that cater to different tastes. It just depends on what kind of bands you want to see.

Stay away from:
Tipitinas
Carrolton Station
The Maple Leaf/Oak Street
Frenchman Street
Nothing to see there.

Tipitina's & Maple Leaf are two of my favorite venues.

For Vinyl: Domino Records in Treme, Euclid Records in Bywater, Jim Russels Garden District
I think Chickie Wah Wah does a good job w their shows on a small $ basis.
Good luck and enjoy.

For vinyl, try Peaches Records on Decatur. If you like jazz you should walk up and down Royal during the day. There's always someone playing on the street. Plus, it's free.

I would also like to hear your opinion of Nola vs League City/Houston in the next month.
Enjoy Nola, also WWOZ 90.7 is the only radio station you need to know. They do a live music calendar every hour to let you know who is playing where.

Vinyl Tourist's list of record shops in N.O.
First one on the list is Louisiana Music Factory on Decatur. CD's downstairs, vinyl up.
Great one, lots of local stuff too.

Dos Jefes
Local music, never a cover, taco truck often outside, cigar bar, huge patio, scotch bar, couches, pool table, and chill crowd.
You're welcome.
I'll be there tonight for Sunpie.

Pick up a copy of Gambit weekly or Offbeat magazine at a coffee shop to look at their music calendar.
