re: Firing a high school coach

to think that lower classifications don't take it that serious and are "weekend warrior type coaches" is an awful opinion and is flat out false!

hell some class b and c basketball schools will fire a coach in a heartbeat.

Most make 5k a year, putting in the same time and DO teach. Football doesn't dominate the school systems everywhere in the country. Where I coach if administration tells our head coach that he has bus duty after school, he has to do it.

re: Firing a high school coach

i played basketball in high school. we all played from Jr high through high school together, the entire group of us and we were probably, the 2nd best Jr team in the state behind Pulaski Heights who had jamal anderson and a few other athletes on it that people outside the state would not know. we played them and lost by 4. PH hadn't lost a game in 2 years and beat one team 90 something to 7. their coach ran a half court trap that most teams just could not have the athletes to handle.

lol we went to high school and the same team, i think we won 1 conference game the entire season. and I went to Fuller in Jr HIgh school it's not like we put out shitty teams we were feeding mills great fricking teams and the high school coach had no fricking clue what he was doing. none whatsoever. it became laughable. Bam doyne, who went to play for ole miss came over for off season his freshman year and I mean we knew him he was light years better than the guy who we had playing small forward but the coach would not play him with the first team beucase he wasn't a senior.

eventually the principle let him go and hired our assistant coach as our coach.

the next year we finished in the top 4 in the state. lost 3 games all year, 2 to the same team. and maybe half of the games were close. we went to Sylan Hills, where archie goodwin is form and was up something like 42 to 8 at half time.

a coach can go a long way

Tioga High (LA) did this a year ago. The head coach and principal "mutually agreed" on the resignation. Not the first time she's done this to a coach.

Yea i agree with you man. Those HS coaches that make six figures don't work for public schools.

In Louisiana most of the parishes pay 45k-55k plus 7% allocation for coaches salaries. Head Football/ AD is going to makes 5k-10k extra per season. I think it has to do with tradition, resources and expectations on job security. Boaster Clubs play a big role in these decisions as well as local politics.

usually this is 4A and 5A coaches... once you drop down a classification or a few, you get the weekend warrior type coaches, and the game isn't taken as serious

Yeah, sure... Tell JT Curtis, Red and David Franklin, Steven Fitzhugh, Vic Dalrymple, Dell Ashley, and a whole bunch more that.

You big school guys don't have a clue when it comes to small school ball. Your best 22 vs a top small schools 22 and you big school guys lose every time.
