| Why do People Want Life to be Fair? (Posted on 11/14/12 at 1:26 pm)
Life is not fair. If it was, almost all americans would have a lot less than they do. I asked this question on PT and they couldnt give me much of an anwer. I believe it was over their heads being more philosophical than political. So, I will ask the gurus of the OT. Why does life have to be fair? People want the political system to be fair. I agree with this ideal to a point, but life is not fair. We are all born with a certain innate potential. I will never have the physical ability of a pro athlete. I, also, have a (slightly) higher than average academic potential. I have used this to further my career and life. Not everyone is born with an average potential ability to be productive. If you disagree, go to a clinic for special needs children. Many of them will never be able to produce enough in their lifetimes to offset the resources needed to keep them alive. Those of us who produce (more than we consume in our lifetimes) know this, and gladly supplement the ones who cannot produce for themselves. But, there is a large portion of the population that can produce enough to sustain themselves, and they simply do not. They want more than they can afford, like a newer car, bigger house, larger TV, newer phone, etc. If they would lower their standards, they could actually live quite well. It is unfair that they have "less," but life is not fair. There are people in this world that will have more than I can ever dream of. That's how life goes. I have lowered my standard to a level that I can attain and have become comfortable here. I still strive for more, but don't get mad because I don't have it. Another aspect is the fact that if you gave them everything they wanted, they would still be unhappy. They want more not because they truly need more, but because of some unmet psychological need that they are unable to fill. Some people will never be happy. Life is not fair.

Sounds like OP is the kinda a-hole who's getting a windfall at someone else's expense, like both my EX's.

This is a fallacy. 99.9999999% of people will never be professional athletes. Most people, regardless of IQ, can still succeed academically and professionally if they work hard.

Ever notice how the wimmens have so much in common with the lower socio-economic classes? They like to drive big fancy cars, wear flashy jewelry, live of the Man's paycheck... Hmmm.

Natchez or West Banker? Who are you ? Gimme hint. I swear i thought you played at LSU with me. I'm confused now. My 'glory days' were simply sick dirty jokes and shite I say on a daily basis to people IRL but here it freaked people out for a while. It's faded and I'm just posting and passin time like the rest.

Your math must be wrong because there are at least 20 OT Ballers with world elite level athleticism.

That right there is one of the most frickED things still allowed in deevorces today. Feel your pain. One let mine slide if I let the furniture in the house all go to her. Wasn't super expensive but set me back about +10k worth furniture but didn't want to be forced to cash out 401k. Snakes them women are. Now OP. Who is bitching at you for something you got that they didn't. This has to be the case, right?
