About half the movie is sort of a dream.

One of the few remakes where I actually preferred the Hollywood version.

It's a dream starting from the time he wakes up on the sidewalk and goes home with Cruze's character.

This. Just saw this movie recently and was surprised it was pretty decent.

yep, they spell it out for you in the movie

I just don't know (In the story world) if P.Cruz's character tosses "David" aside because of the way he looks after the accident, or does he sabotage the relationship because of the way he looks?

was he acting differently? Sure. But was it an easy out for her to say, "frick it, he's crazy"?

He wasn't the same person, and he pretty much severed the ties he had with all of his friends.

I've always loved this movie. It's Cameron Crowe's most thoughtful movie and one of Tom Cruise's best performances.

Great movie.

Like others said, the dream started when David passed out then woke up on the sidewalk in a sky filled with weird hues.

But to get there he committed suicide and had them start his dream from that part of his life. But if you think about it, the entire time he's recounting his life to the psychiatrist, Kurt Russel, so practically the whole film is the dream in that sense.

I think it's better to say the half leading up to the suicide really happened and the rest was from his dream.

Make sense?

i own the DVD and the soundtrack

probably seen it 20+ times

I love it.

The final scene is great and is what introduced me to Sigur Rios

Tech Support does a good job of explaining everything to David(and the audience)

subsequent viewings make the whole story clearer and clearer
