Wanting to catch a short series on Netflix but can't decide between Firefly or Flash Forward. Do either of them have a decent ending? I know there's a lot if love for Firefly but I don't want to waste my time if it just suddenly ends with no resolution.

If you consider Serenity to be the final episode, then yes.

Firefly has a movie as the ending. Excellent resolution.

Decent? Sure. Good? Hardly. There is some resolution, but I would much rather they restart the series and act like nothing in the movie happened.

Character development/questions is left open quite a bit, but as far as the core story, Serenity wraps it up pretty well...

considering they did in 2 hours what they wanted to do in 5-6 more seasons.

I just watched Firefly/Serenity over the past month.

Good, no, GREAT! but its not nearly enough. I have unanswered questions and am left wanting more. 5 more seasons would have been nice

What channel originally had it? FOX? Those stupid fricks.

Flash Forward is pretty bad. The ending is bad too.

don't bother with flash forward.

Firefly won't take long to watch and the movie ties some of the loose ends up. I liked the movie a lot more than the actual series.

Whedon's brother did a comic on Book's background. Never read the comic, but here's a link to a summary: The Shepherd's Tale. Pretty sure this story is "canon." Obviously if you haven't watched the series or read the movie, wait to read The Shepherd's Tale.

Uh... it say's here's a link to a summary. There is nothing discussed that's a spoiler in the post. Clearly if you click the LINK TO THE SUMMARY you are anticipating reading the summary.

ETA: Your original post is not a spoiler but speculation. But I digress. I'll edit the response to just have the link.

Agreed. From the description alone I would have loved to see it play out on screen.

If you haven't checked before, they also have comics that bridge the end of the series to the movie (Hands of Blue discussed) and at least one comic that takes place after the movie. Again, I'm going off of wiki descriptions but - as best I can tell - they've done an OK job keeping the story going and fleshing out some history.

Is it just me or are there at least 2-3 Firefly threads each week?
