It's good to be a Fat Man:

Roger Creager tonight (Auburn, AL)
Corey Smith on Friday (Texas Club)
LSU on Sa ... Tiger Stadium

Corey Smith reminds me of senior trip, panama city, trashy girls

Guy needs to grow up and sing about something other than high school

You mean like his later albums "The Good Life", "Keeping up with Jones" and "Hard Headed Fool" (surburban life, racial elements, alcoholism and 'soldiers dying in a far-off land).

This knock on CS may have been legit several years ago, but he's done quite a bit since then.

That said, his live shows do always include 21 and Panama City Bound. Maybe Next Year has actually been altered to fit a "middle aged man"

... and Buffett always includes "Fins" and "Why don't we get drunk and screw."

Pat Green gets grief for altering his style over time (selling out), CS gets grief for not.

You didn't happen to catch a band called the Gold Magnolias in Austin last weekend did you?

I think they played at Saxon pub or something like that

I did, Cotton! I randomly headed to Saxon with some friends on Tuesday night for a bit...saw that they were playing and thought to myself, "Where on earth have I heard of these guys before?"

I couldn't stay the whole time but I thought they were pretty good.

I grew up with Evan the lead singer/keyboardist. I almost hitched a ride to Austin with them but I ended up getting Tickets to the bama game. They'll be playing at my hometown bar this weekend and I'm stoked as hell

Creager and crew were outstanding last night.

Small crowd, maybe 50-60 people. Your Texas was well represented.

Glad to hear he's still got it! I haven't seen Creager in ages but he always put on a pretty good show. I'd like to see him again but he doesn't play the Austin area much. I like him but he's not one I'm willing to travel to see.

Turnpike put on one of the best shows I've ever seen them do last night...maybe one of the best shows I've ever seen, period. They absolutely KILLED it. Holy shite.

Hope you enjoy Corey Smith tonight

Have you seen them before?

They are great guys and they put on an awesome show. They really respond to the mood and energy of the crowd so I hope y'all are rowdy and ready to party, they'll perform accordingly :) Have an awesome time, they're one of the best acts out there right now.
