ULM upset at ULLaffy sucker punch

With 4 seconds left in the game they were leading by10 pts , ULL calls timeout , then throws unexpected bomb for TD.

You're right, no surprise that the female writer couldn't understand what was actually going on on the field. The shitty part of that play was on the defensive call, not the offense.

I really don't care but it sure brought out some hilarious rants on the message boards of both schools. ULL calling ULM a trade school. ULL now thinking they could beat an SEC team.

I dont think ULM's decision to do an all out blitz was classless. They were playing till the final whistle and wanted to make a play. But if they're gonna go all out on the last play of a already decided game, then we're gonna do the same.

No reason on the last play of the game while down 2 scores to blitz all. Now if it was 1 score of course go ahead. And they have no reason to be mad. If they blitz then ULL has every right to air it deep

I don't understand either team doing what they did. ULL should have punted, run a sweep or let the QB run around for 4 seconds. They were up 10 with a few seconds left. No way to lose the game. I don't understand ULM sending everybody either.

Didn't want to punt to have to deal with a block or return situation. Just trying to find a way to run out the clock without the chance of any real injury. The plan is, take the snap and run around for a few seconds and either take the safety or throw it out of bounds.
We couldn't do that though because ULM sent their entire defense on a blitz. We didn't want our qb to take a big hit, so he just chunked it deep as soon as he got it. If ULM wanted to concede, we would have been fine to just run it out.

My guess is this play was just as simple (and maybe even mean less chance of injury) than a punt play. They planned on just snapping it and throwing it up out of bounds or to a covered WR. Game over. But no, ULM brought everyone. So Broadway just launched it of his back foot and hit our WR.
Both plays could've run out the clock. I'm guess the coaches picked this play because they would've preferred not to risk a blocked punt. Even though it wouldn't have mattered.

There is a thread that captures this in detail, but if you rush 11 with the game essentially over, you will hurt someone. Broadway just gave them what they had coming.
