She died from responsibility. Facing the prospect of having to watch another child killed her.

You seriously gotta think Lori being gone will negatively affect TWD's popularity. They can certainly make up for it with the Governor, ect, but Lori was by far the most-discussed character of the first 2.5 seasons.

Carl shot her in the head.

She would have bled out eventually anyway.

The way it played out onscreen, I think she died not long after she was cut open. I think it was pretty obvious that she was dead...had she simply been passed out, she would've still been breathing (and even possibly could've woke up) and Carl and Maggie would've noticed that and not done the whole "Who's gonna shoot her?" thing.

Plus, they set it up that way anyway with Lori telling Carl that she was gonna die.

Oh, I know that's how they made it look. I just don't think she'd have been dead yet, just dying. Either way, she wasn't going to survive a C-section in a prison electrical room without any medicine or professional help.

still a zombie apocolypse tv series? Check
most main characters still alive? Check
ability to further develop other storylines without Lori? Check

Shirly you can't be serious.

The actress tried to get written off the show last season when Darabont left anyway. She said she was surprised they did it so soon into the season but figured it was coming.

From what I've read it'll haunt Rick for quite awhile. The Lori actress said he'd be flashing back to that encounter they had at the end of the episode a few weeks ago when he was cold to her a lot.

Rick should have force-fed her those pills
