The "Mettsiah" moniker imposed unrealistic expectations upon a young QB

Even if Mettenberger leads us to the Promised Land on November 3, those of you on TD, who hung this not-so-clever yoke around his neck, should admit now that it imposed unrealistic expectations upon a young and inexperienced QB.

I like Mett...my expectations for a first-year SEC QB were obviously not as high as others. I love the fact that we aired it out against A&M...something we didn't try once against Alabama on January 9, for whatever reason.

I hope Mett and the receivers are practicing those missed connections every day until Nov 3...

Have you been satisfied with mett's performance so far? All i wanted was for him to control the offense and I don't feel like he has done it so far. I think he will get there but it's taking longer than I expected.

I think it a combination of offensive strategy/philosophy/playcalling and inexperience as the cause for his slow development. He is basically a redshirt freshman out there...we are 7-1...can't argue with that.

I ilked this as well. If he can just get the timing right on the lengthes of his throws. IF he makes them throws against Bama, WE WIN .

He's had drop and bad throws but has stood strong and has taken hits to get the ball off.

While I agree with the premise, he should not be considered young.

I really don't think it's Mettenberger, I think it's the offensive scheme.

I get your point, and to come into the SEC and pull a Cam Newton isn't realistic but i must say... I expected better than what we have seen. I understand it's not all him, blocking, dropped passes, not the best play calling....
All we need from him is make a few passes, pick up a couple blitzes...
Let's hope he comes through a lil against Bama cause I think he is the difference, for better or worse. We match up well w/Bama except at qb.

My sentiments exactly.
If our timing improves over these next two weeks, and we connect on those throws, we have a VERY good chance of winning this game................especially with the game being at home. I like our chances.

What does a moniker have to do with bad footwork and staring down receivers?

I wonder how many QBs it will take for LSU fans to realize that the players aren't the problem with the offense

Despite if it has been a bad thing, I have despised that tag since its creation and have posted so. It sucked.

I truly believe he is a great QB waiting to get out.
