Unlike most of the comments I have read concerning the SI article on Tyrann Mathieu I found it made several good points. People make choices and it's obvious Tyrann made some wrong ones. In order for him to be successful he must change his environment. Obviously, Era Nation is not a good influence on him. I have found in life the bad rubs off on good people a lot faster than the good rubs off on bad. The article portrayed reality and the point was Tyrann made some bad choices. I certainly don't think it gives LSU a bad name. Being an athlete in today's society is tuff. Young adults who chose this path needs to realize this.

Being an athlete is NOT tough. Being a single mom and raising two kids , is tough. Being a 19 year old Marine in Afghanistan is tough. Come on. They are famous and playing a Game.

Having your school tuition paid for, meals, all the academic support you need, clothes and a roof over your head while playing a game most wish they could play at the college level all the while being treated like a king.

That sounds tuff.

No question about that.

The message this article sends to all college athletes and their family is to NOT pi$$ SI reporters off. Do that and you get a hit piece.

I am not sure of all the details, but the bar owners said the SI reporters offered them money to say TM was given free drinks and VIP status in exchange for putting his picture on a flyer.

no one could tell me not to be an alcoholic when i was a freshman.
all of my friends were drinkers. i didn't hang w/ the sober duds. i was a dancer and the girls loved me.

my brain didn't fully mature until about 42.

i do wish the young the best, but, some of us have to loose it all before we learn.

Glad you do not have a problem with a magazine writing an article on someone who does not want to be interviewed, is curently and will forever be an addict but who took control of his life for now and wants to be left alone. Not to mention the fact that they tried to pay for information they manufactured. Do yourself a favor do not believe everything you see on TV or read. Hint! We live in a society where the truth is not a sexy as a great lie. Mathieu has his issues but he deserves better from mature adults and an established magazine. FYI I cancelled my subscription because I though it was a cheap shot. Why not put A Rod on the cover? He loves the attention!
