Saw this guy while walking to my stand. I think he's confused.

He's either the largest squirrel ever, or this "Ground" hog decided he wont be pigeonholed. I see them all over the place up here in ohio, but ive never seen one in a tree. My stand was right across from him. He stayed up there for a couple hours and never moved.

If he would have declared that he was hunting ground hogs BEFORE getting in the woods, he could have shot.

I have a friend that has some in her yard. She swears they climb the trees all the time. I couldn't figure out what she was talking about when she described it and said that they climb trees.

weather has been pretty great. it was 32 this morning. I have actually skipped the last few mornings because I haven't gotten my cold weather gear up here yet. Ive been freezing my but off in the evenings and wouldn't make it in the morning. Ive seen deer every hunt except opening morning. still waiting on the right buck though.

According to Wikipedia they can climb trees.

Despite their heavy-bodied appearance, groundhogs are accomplished swimmers and excellent tree climbers when escaping predators or when they want to survey their surroundings

Is it true you can't use a rifle, just a shotgun in Ohio? Someone told me that once because it's all flat land.
