Can refs review and overturn if it was blown dead before recovery?

Obviously it depends on what week it is

As long as there was a clear recovery by the other team, which happened.

Against Texas? No.
Others? Yeah.
Right call in the LSU game though. No reason Odell shouldn't have just gone down or out of bounds by that point. Just stupidity.

I thought the refs had to rule it a fumble for it to be reviewed. If they blow a play dead it's done for. Or so I thought

Then there should be no such things as late hit penalties! Are the players just supposed to determine on their own when to continue playing or not!!!!

Yes, but it has to be a clear recovery. What just happened in the LSU game is a good example.

How can a player clearly recover a ball after a play has been blown dead. Stupidest rule in all of sports!

There were no LSU players even close to the ball.

Take the loss like a man, dude. We don't have a deep threat, been destroyed by injuries, and the playcalling just blows terribly. OBJ should have gone down, and he lost the ball attempting to make something happen.

So by that logic, that play should just continue on, and no matter how many refs blow the whistle the players should just keep hitting each other. This is one aspect of the replay rules that the NFL has right!

Fwiw, he didn't whistle until after it was apparent UF would/had the ball. Just because you make a hand motion, doesn't mean the play is over.

Not that it mattered, but why did they give them the ball at the spot of the fumble and not the recovery. He fumbled at about the 23 and their guy picked it up around the 16/17.

Because the whistle blew.. who knows if it hadn't.. you don't know.. maybe Odell turns on jet-like speed and recovers it..

What? He tried to recover it. Plus, he knows the rule. If it was close to a fumble, he should have jumped on it just in case.

So anytime a ball hits the turf even after a play has been declared dead, players should just assume it was a fumble and jump all over it. Not only is that stupid, but someone is gonna get seriously hurt in that situation. I thought the NCAA was looking out for player safety, after all that's why they are trying their damnd'est to get rid of the kickoff return.
