LSU made it up to #6 in the polls, but we still weren't sure about them. Some said that they were over-rated. They played Idaho in the third game of the season and, although they won 53-20, there question marks. They had handled an over-matched Auburn team on the road, but the Tiger faithful were ready to see LSU prove it against a ranked opponent. In Week four they played #12 Georgia, lost a heartbreaker, and folded. They went 1-6 the rest of the way and Dinardo was fired.

I'm not saying that I expect this to happen. Chavis' defense alone makes this year's LSU squad better than the 1998 team. But the soft part of the 2012 schedule is over. If LSU doesn't get their shite together NOW, the past shows that bad things CAN happen. You can't just put on the P&G and expect that alone to carry you to victory.

Are you seriously comparing that LSU team and this LSU team?

U make your own breaks. Coaching on the offensive side sucks though.

Actually, it was at the end of the '99 season that Dinardo was canned.

I remember that year and 89 when Archer thought we should be ranked higher than 7th. Granted much tougher schedule back then, but it was brutal to watch. O was horrible, line didn't want to block for dick QB, wait what year are we talking about?

My mistake, you're right. I think we all WANTED Dinardo fired after 1998, but he lasted another year.

I'm comparing the seasons to show what can happen when a talented team doesn't play up to their potential. I'm sticking with my prediction of an undefeated season, but it won't happen if they don't start playing with some intensity.

Some good news, LSU now has a solid win against a top 25 opponent. Thanks, UW!

I agree fwiw. No one on that field seemed to give a shite about that performance last night. Including Zach "just happy to be here" mettenburger.

And I graduated lsu in '97.

This season reminds me of 2008. Coming off championship and an untested quarterback. I think at worst 9-3, at best we can still win it all. Will we? Who knows?
