If you had to make personnel changes to our defense, what would they be?

1. Harper
2. Shanle
3. Ellis
4. Smith

I still think P-Rob will get better. Harper and Smith are over paid IMO.

We don't really gain that much cap space by cutting Harper. We would have to have a good replacement to make it worth the while

Ellis' contract expires this year, so he's gone.

Smith is going to get cut.

We brought in a possible replacement for shanle and he tore his acl. I'd rather just put in another safety on 3rd downs and let harper play the line

Harper played one of his best games last week man. But I agree, the rest can peace out.

Harper and Jenkins are only good against the run, which is sad when Jenkins is a former cb. There's just no excitment to this defense what so ever... Lofton and Greer are our best players on defense IMO. Jordan and Gallete are coming around

Add Will Herring to that list. His play on Charles 91 yard run was pathetic.

Are you talking about in the offseason?

This is the final year of Ellis' contract. I doubt he comes back unless it's for a minimum and we can't find anyone else to sign.

We have HAVE have to find some OLBs. This has to be Shanle's last year.

Smith isn't bad, he's just on the down side of his career. Harper is what Harper is. He's a tackling SS that gets exposed in coverage. Yes, they make more than they are worth, but we need to find suitable replacements before letting them walk. No one is replaceable by a 'box of kittens'. Well, except Shanle.

We need a standout pass rushing DE, to pair with Galette, or have a rotation of Jordan/Galette/NewGuy

Need 2 OLB's, the Hawthorne experiment isn't working, and Herring/Shanle are just terrible.

Need a Safety, Harper/Jenkins combo just isn't working well in run defense or against the pass.

DE: Jordan, Galette -Put *Martez Wilson in for pass rush, moving Jordan to tackle, taking Bunkley out
DT: *Hicks, Bunkley
SLB: Herring
MLB: Lofton
WLB: Hawthorne
CB: Greer, Robinson - Patrick, White in on packages
FS: Jenkins
SS: Haprer (but, I'd prefer to use him as a rover type of player because he can't cover shite)

Oops, I meant Casillias ahead of Shanle, Herring is basically a clone of the same shite. Casillias is more of a WLB, but no way he'd be worse than The Shanle at SLB. Has more speed. He has been in a good bit as is. I like Hawthorne and Lofton, I wish Vilma were healthy to try these 3 guys out.

Move Jenkins to SS and start Isa Abdul Quaddus as FS.

Hicks and Bunkley as your starting DTs, activate Tyrunn Walker and put him in the rotation, make Sed Ellis a reserve and reduce his playing time until he earns it back.

on obvious passing downs bring Tez and Junior from the ends and kick Cam inside next to hicks.

on obvious passing downs make Harper a OLB for now and take shanle off the field and leave Herring on the bench.

Disagree with this one. I think Jenkins is fine at FS.

I have been thinking about this since last week. Harper should never leave the field but isnt the guy we need in there at SS on passing downs.

it call comes down to the pressure from the front 4, that's how this scheme will work. Hicks has to play, I think we all notice a difference when he is in there. And as stated numerous times, you have to utilize a guy like Wilson for pass rush. He is too talented to not be out there.

In all fairness to Hawthorne, I believe he came too soon from his torn menniscus & wasn't completely 100%. He also left last game in the first half with a hamstring injury.

With him missing so much time he missed value practice time while being in the mist of trying to learn a new scheme & position as well.(He played ILB for the Seahawks) Hawthorne just needs to get completely healthy & see more playing time before we can fully judge what he can & cannot do.
