One Meal in Vegas

Vegas this weekend. I plan to sacrifice a bit of football watching / gambling to eat a decent meal. Give me your 2 picks with this criteria:
1) win big = money no option
2) lose = budget friendly, but better than buffet crap or slots o fun monster hot dog
Prefer good steak type place over "fancy" place, it's a guys weekend

For #2, I would suggest the Pink Taco and the Wolfgang Puck resto in the MGM Grand. I had the best Gnocchi and Meatsauce there. I wouldn't call it budget friendly but it is better than buffet. For budget friendly in Vegas, you really have to go with Subway, McDonald, Nathan's, etc.

#1 Australian A5 Wagyu Filet at Craftsteak

I'm thinking about hitting Ramsay Steak in the Paris this weekend. Reviews say the service is so-so but the food is top notch.

Vic and Anthony's is really good. But is probably too nice and upscale like for a group of guys. If you guys catch breakfast though then hit the Hash House a Go-Go. Those chicken and waffles were fricking delicious.

1) If going to Craftsteak, Colicchio's Wagyu Flat Iron FTW.
2) Enjoy the 8 pans of fruit fluff at Circus Circus and a depressing plane ride home.

If you do decide to try buffet, go to Wynn.

I did see a thread on here awhile back about some new buffet at Ceasers maybe? that was new and supposedly over the top also

Wife and I checked it out the other night. It was incredible. I'll do a proper right up later

I wouldnt call it budget friendly though at 39 pp. Think its cheaper by a couple bucks if you are a total rewards memeber. Sounds like the best idea is just to get their 40 buffet package instead and pay the extra 10 dollars then at least get another meal out of it.

Was the line insane?

Over top fine dining experience: Joel Robuchon at the MGM Grand. 3 star Michelin and 5 diamond AAA restaurant. The only 3 star michelin restaurant in vegas (although Michelin quit rating Vegas recently). That would be my top dog as far as real fine dining goes.

1) The Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay. It's on the 64th floor and has a huge patio for having a drink and enjoying the best view in Vegas.

We only waited 20 minutes. We ate early though since we were all messed up with 2 hour time difference. I think we ate around 5:00 Vegas time). When we left, the line was probably 100-150 people long

MGM
I'll say this, we went to craftsteak last time out there and I was not impressed with the waygu beef or the sides that accompany the steaks. We had a group of 10 I think, everyone ordered a steak of their choice and then we split 8 of the sides for the table, none of which were particularly impressive. I had the waygu ribeye and the guy next to me got the regular rib-eye, and honestly if you would have blind taste tested me and asked which was the 200 dollar steak, his tasted better. The Lobster Bisque was phenomenal though, and ranked up there as possible the best cup of soup I have ever eaten, which I think says a lot being from south Louisiana and having dined in most all of the fancy NOLA restaurants. If you end up going to craft steak, I suggest getting the short ribs, that was the best item anyone at our table got on our visit.
As far as your budget meal goes I agree with the earlier poster about Wolfgang Pucks smaller place on the floor in MGM, they have a lot of very good entries for under 30 dollars. The place also has the best hamburger I have ever eaten if your in the mood for a quick lunch before you bounce out the next morning.

Was in Vegas last week...
We ate at Charlie Palmer's Steak over in the Four Seasons hotel. We did the "Cut of the Week prix fixe menu" and then added a couple of small plates from both the main menu and the bar menu. It was really good. If you go, don't pass up the American Kobe beef tartare small plate.

Craft steak gets my vote. Get the tasting menu. One of the best meals of my life and I have eaten 6+ michilan stars. Great meal and not over the top expensive.
