From this non-fan's perspective, this is how it seems to me. I would be shocked if 3 years from now anyone thinks it was worth it.

Exactly, you can not build a team when you put so much money and faith into 1 player.

And now it looks like we're going to have the worst defense in the league again after 2 weeks.

That makes sense. Lets trade a great offense for a great defense. Then we can keep a great defense on the field the whole game because we cant move the ball. Dont be susuch an idiot. His contract is structured in a way that it is not so bad

defense. Hope he enjoys his spoils while we watch this team suck. I wish they would have sent him on his way instead of negotiating in the off season. He managed to turn bounty gate into his own selfish payday.

...Dude? Really? You know what, you've earned this.

i can definitely see that. but the OP went about it in the wrong way...ask a question to spark debate in the thread title...put your opinion and why in the message. and then you can have debate

just throwing shite at the fan like he did isn't going to work.

I really don't see what's so dumb, its totally possible Brees wasn't worth that much.

But, much more than that is being said.

Although he's got the weight of the entire team on his shoulders, and he, as is his tendency, tries to do too much, Brees is producing at a pretty productive level considering that:

His recievers are (cept Graham) small, slow and indistinguished.

His Offensive line is pourous and inconsistent

His crappy defense makes the Offensive gameplan completely transparent and easy to defend.

Oh, and BTW. He has given this team and city it's only championship with fabulous years surrounding it.

So because he can't do it all, let's toss him out the door? Child Please!

True Chase Daniel is not the answer, but it doesn't look good when you still have Jimmy's huge contract to lock up and then you need guys on D... tough task considering Drew is taking up more cap space than any other player in the league.

My point was that all of these issues could have been addressed if so much money hadn't been spent on Brees.
His play isn't the problem, it's the effect his contract and hold out has had on the rest of the team.

No, it isn't. Do you people remember what Saints football was like before Sean Payton and Drew Brees? I do, and I'm not ready to go back to the days of hoping Deuce's knees don't literally explode on national television or that Kyle Turley doesn't just forego all of the rules and start punching people in the face. Don't for one second think that if either left, we'd just "reload". We're seeing that. This organization has become really cocky apparently, and if this reminds us how short our reign as a major player has been, I'm all for it.

We have an ELITE quarterback. You don't luck out and break Marino's single-season passing record. Drew Brees is an elite quarterback, and as Indianapolis has learned the hard way, you don't part ways with that sort of person unless you HAVE to, as in they die in a tragic bitches and champagne accident or retire. If you think Chase Daniel is on the same level of Drew Brees, you're delusional, and you need to go get that shite checked. Don't be fricking stupid.

I would have paid $500 dollars in bounty cash out of my wallet to see Turley helmet strike CamCam in the fricking teeth. I hate his smile. I hate Cam Newton's happiness on all levels.
