| Thoughts on this Trailer I painted? (Posted on 8/31/12 at 8:31 am)
My first post on the OB ever. I thought I would use up a can of epoxy paint that I have. Mixed in a bit of sand with the paint and did this to the boards of my trailer. So far this thing is holding up like a damn champ. Anybody ever done this?

We always do the bottom of our skiff that way. It's badass.

I have my garage done and I had 1 can extra. This has exceeded my expectations and will probably extend the life of the boards by 5 years. That's just a wild guess.

not going to lie, i was thinking his trailer frame was going to be purple and gold or something like that. looks good, though the only time i have been a part of 'painting' a trailer, my baby bro slung a can of pink paint on the trailer and that shite spilled all over the gate and arse end of the boards.

Looks good. I should probably do that to mine, since its beat to hell. When I replace the boards, I'll probably do that.

Good idea. Trailer boards can be slick as cow shite when wet. Are the boards pressure treated?

I had to use a paint mixter attached to a drill to get the sand mixed in good. The paint was soft at first but after about 3 days it is some strong stuff.

Treated boards. Normally this expoxy paint is terribly slick. But the sand does the trick.

The only thing about the epoxy is that it doesn't seem to protect against warping as well as you'd think. They plywood floor in our boat always manages to warp up, pop all the rivets out the edges, and have to be replaced about every 10 years or so. When you first put it on there it seems like it's going to last forever.

we were filling a trailer to haul off to the dump. one of our relatives used that to paint furniture in her room. no one was ever going to use pink paint again and no pics, i assure you, you don't want it.

How much sand did you use in the epoxy?

it helps alot.. i've painted the decks of my hunting boats and trailers and thrown sand on the top as they are drying... never have mixed it in before, why not do both?
