Let's hear your fresh burger recipe.

Always use the same spices/ingredients when I cook burgers, so I was wondering what other people use in the patties.
Any maybe some fresh sides that you cook with it. Getting tired of onion rings, fries etc

I buy high quality ground beef. Then salt and pepper a bit and mix lightly. Course salt and pepper on top. Grill.
I normally just eat a burger with chips, but homestyle potatoes could be good.
Top with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, bacon, serranos, and a fried egg.

What makes ground beef "high quality"?
The rest of your recipe sounds great.

I buy ground ribeye for my burgers from Emmetts in Elmwood. It makes a killer burger. Salt and pepper are all that is necessary. Usually top it with onions, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and avocado. If I use cheese, I add Swiss. BBQ sauce optional

Was looking for more in the way of unique/different spices in the meat as opposed to toppings. Def. sounds good though

Organic free range grass fed. Yes it makes a difference.

I understand being simplistic and letting the meat speak for itself. Just wasn't what I was asking.

It sounds to me like you are begging for a hamburger steak and gravy recipe. Ask and you shall receive.

Generally, I don't like burgers will all manner of seasoning in the meat. Doesn't need it and in order to mix it in, most people overwork the meat which ruins it for me.
Loosely form the burger. Do not pack it. That's the secret to a good burger right there. Press an indention in the center to help the burger shrinkage. Season on the outside if that's what you like. Grill or cook in a cast iron skillet. Top with whatever you want.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion by my question. I meant like a spicy burger; I've heard of ppl coating in coffee grounds, jerk burgers, things like that.

Sounds like FB doesn't use all those things you are looking for that ruin a great homemade hamburger.

This plus onion powder and garlic powder. Key is not overworking the meat. Makes it chewy. I just grab a handful and gently press it into a patty.

I would leave the beef alone. Take the advice of the others. It should be beefy with no fillers. Salt and pepper are all that you need.
Try to infuse the spice you want in the condiments. A cajun mustard, a homemade spicy mayonnaise, aolli, or even some homemade canned pickles.
The buns are another area that you can work with. Kaiser rolls, sourdough, and a crunchy french roll are some options.
Of course different cheeses and mushrooms are a welcome addition to a good burger.
I suggested hamburger steak because you asked for sides. A good burger is like a good pizza, everything is already on there. To me, even fries and onion rings are overkill. The bun is quite a few tasty, but nasty carbs. Why add more? The hamburger steak meal replaces this with some rice or mashed potatoes, and goes well with a green veggie.

Ok i'll bite- I make a turkey burger and use everything you would use to season chili- chili powder, a little cumin, Chipolte Tabasco, salt. Mix and form into 6 oz patties. Turkey's nice because it doesn't shrink up quite as much.
My wife won't eat beef, so if I want a burger, this is pretty much what I cook.

If you want spicy maybe you should try mixing the ground beef with hot sausage. A 50/50 ratio makes for a damn nice burger that'll give you a pretty good kick. But like the others said, dont overwork the meat.

Well I suppose you could just use a good Jamaican Jerk Rub in lieu of salt and pepper then
