Caught this piggy...

I posted a pic a while back of my cellular controlled pig trap head gate while I was building it in my back yard. I have finally deployed it, and caught my first pig. The corral part of the trap needs some work, which i have fixed since this kill, but it was pretty cool to sit in front of my TV drinking Makers Mark and trap a pig from my IPAD!

Why would you control it by remote? Whouldn't you want it to just go off for whatever went in it?

So he can get a bunch in without a door going off and scaring the rest of them away IMO FWIW

Interesting.....only thing better would be if it was on wheels.

Where did you get the trap?

You are correct, sir. She had a bunch of piglets with her, but they got out when the connection at the T-post busted. Oh well. The concept is too let them come for multiple nights, monitor the action and size of the herd, and then slam it shut and catch the whole group. I got so excited that it worked when she showed up that I let the gate fly. I am monitoring the action now trying to catch a large group, want to see the chaos when I mow down the whole herd.

The high-tech stuff is from a company called Wireless Traps out of Texas. (Also called Cellular Access). I built the gate out of an older spring-loaded head gate that I had. The corral part is hog wire panels and t posts. They are plenty strong, (now) we changed the way they were linked together. They are fastened with U bolts, works well.

that is very cool. does it send you some type of alert when they enter or do you have to be monitoring?

Hunting seasons needs to get here quickly...we are getting bloodthirsty.

That's cool and all, but you just did yourself a huge disservice shooting her in the pen. If there's blood and stuff in there, get it out or you'll have a hard time getting any more to come to it.
