Agreed. I really like Stephen Dillane as Stannis & I'm confident that he'll become even more awesome as the Stannis storyline expands.
Oh, and hey Hodor . I had no idea that Bloodraven gets WiFi in his cave. Must have the CotF slaving away making WiFi connections.

I'm currently doing a reread and just got to the Kingsmoot on Old Wyk and found something interesting, that i'm fairly certain hasn't been mentioned here.
In the Damphair's chapter, when the very first claimant to the seastone chair, gets up the Damphair has the following thought:
I'm not sure if it means anything but I know that there are different types of dragons because the Kindly Man tells Arya about the Fire Wyrms of old Valyria and others have theorized about an ice dragon and maybe a sea dragon.
I'll leave it to smarter men than me to come up with a crackpot theory I just found that note by the Damphair to be interesting.

quote:
"Aeron knew some Farwynds, a queer fold who held lands on the westernmost shores of Great Wyk and the scattered isles beyond, rocks so small that most could support but a single household. Of those, the Lonely Light was the most distant, eight days' sail to the northwest among rookeries of seals and sea lions and boundless grey oceans. The Farwynds there were even queerer than the rest. Some said they were skinchangers, unholy creatures who could take on the form of sealions, walruses, even spotted whales, the wolves of the wild sea"

Thanks for posting . In regards to the Iron Islands, I hope we seem some Krakens in the next 2 books. Can you imagine if one of the characters could warg them!?!?

Well, the Ironborn are First Men, so I think there definitely could be skinchangers there. As for the sea dragon, there's Nagga's Bones. But I read the the theory that Nagga's Bones may actually petrified weirwood, which may indicate that the Old Gods were worshiped there.
The Ironborn also hate ravens and associate them with the Storm God, who's always in conflict with the Drowned God. Then there's the theory that the Iron Islands were once attached to Westeros at one point and separated when the Children tried to bring down the Hammer on the Neck. Hence their hate for ravens, as ravens were associated with the Old Gods (the Children teaching First Men how to use them as messengers), but after a time came to associate ravens with the Storm God because of their water-based culture or w/e.
quote:
On the crown of the hill four-and-forty monstrous stone ribs rose from the earth like the trunks of great pale trees. The sight made Aeron’s heart beat faster. Nagga had been the first sea dragon, the mightiest ever to rise from the waves. She fed on krakens and leviathans and drowned whole islands in her wrath, yet the Grey King had slain her and the Drowned God had changed her bones to stone so that men might never cease to wonder at the courage of the first of kings. Nagga’s ribs became the beams and pillars of his longhall, just as her jaws became his throne.

Good article.
Thanks for posting BluegrassBelle. I usually feel like an uber nerd since I'm usually bumping this thread most of the time.
Also, a new Sansa picture was posted today:
I'm assuming it's Sansa in her PW attire??

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be ASOIAF/GoT characters for Halloween this year.

I'm going between Jon Snow and Pyat Pree. I have a Shepard I could paint white for ghost but walking around drinking shade of the evening would be pretty kick arse.

How Tywin dies? I think.

I'd go as Robb if I had a husky and my SO was on board with the idea. She's not real big into violence, nudity, or Lord of the Rings and she doesn't have HBO.

Yikes a giant mechanical dragon on wheels has entered the red keep. And what of the clear containers of liquid potion?
Lol
I like the candid pictures of them in costume..

She can always go on Project Free TV and watch GoT. That's what I've been using to watch Breaking Bad.
And yeah, some troll wrote Tywin Tyrion spoilers on the GRRM BB thread and his post got whacked. Unfortunately, I found out BB spoilers on Facebook about this past episode, and I'm only on season 3 . I hate spoiler whores, and as a former GoT tv show turned ASOIAF book reader fan, it pisses me off when people on messageboards post blatant spoilers like that in non-reader threads.
As for Halloween costumes, I think Cersei and Dany would be the 'obvious' female costumes, but both are my least favorite female characters in the whole series.
I think a Red Wedding costume would be fun.
