I was offered a kind of strange deal. If I supply hay for 2 years for about 40 head I could have a 2008 4x4 rhino. It has a bunch of add ons like 4 wheel steer and a bunch of others. It will take about 200 bales at a cost to me of about $22 a bale. I have never been in the market for a 4 wheeler or a side by side so I have no idea if it's a good deal or not. Are the rhinos worth a crap? Or should I just walk away?

I say go for it of you can handle the hay order. If its going to put you in a bind with other customers then no.

I have plenty hay for the deal. They have bought hay from me for years but her husband recently died. If truth be told I would give her the hay and have told her so but she said no and wanted to trade instead. It's a messed up deal and she said there is $20,000 in add ons. Is it possible to put that much money into one?

You may be out a little on this deal...
Would need to know more of the options and the model.
Winch?
or implements?
13000 base for a new one....

less bails....

A rhino in good shape without the add-ons for 4400 is a good deal. I'd jump on it.

You can not go wrong. Worth 5-6k without extras. I have one(660) i bought in 2007 it cost 9800 with tax. No winch or add ons.

I use one like I own it. My buddy leaves it at the camp and never comes. I've had it at my house for months. I work it hard but he absolutely dogs it. It takes every lickin and keeps on tickin. It is seriously impressive. I have been looking to buy one myself but I have his to use all the time so ill probably hold off

It's an 09 700

If the hay is no problem then go for it. They retail for over 10k new and are great machines. It was a kind thought of giving her the hay but if she insist, accept the deal.

It is possible to put 20k into a SxS but not easy. It could be a fun toy for you for a while or you might actually find a use for it around your land/farm. I do know that if I ran across a pristine Rhino for around 5k I'd buy it.

I just feel like I am getting over on her but she is persistent. I know I could use one but just hadn't bit the bullet. What advantage would 4 wheel steer add and what would it cost to add?

Sure she didnt just mean 4 wheel drive, not 4 wheel steer? To accomplish 4 wheel steer on a Rhino(or any SxS) would take extensive modifications. She probably just meant 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering is highly unlikely.

It sounds like a good deal to me... I work on atvs and sxs for a living and yamahas are tough. Keep the oil changed every 50hrs and it will last a long time.

I understand your hesitation. You are getting a good deal but I do not believe you are taking advantage of her. I still stand by my comment that 20k is hard to spend on a SxS but is possible.

I agree with the above poster in that I highly doubt that it has 4 wheel steering. It would be very complex and expensive with little benefit. However, I suppose for 20k I could make one 4 wheel steering...

I used to be against SxS and sided with ATVs. I am now wanting a good SxS. A good SxS would be worth it around your land/farm. If you pick it up and decide against it, it would be easy to sell. Me.

I used to be big into the fourwheeler scene. I kind of got out of it right around the time they started making the sporty side by sides (rhino,) Mainly due to me buying a house. Rhinos are nice. For 4,400 it seems like a good deal compared to what ive seen them go for. Google any known problems for that year model and make your decision. As long as its not beat up, that sounds like a decent deal.

It is actually 4 wheel steer. She said her husband took it to somewhere in tennessee to have it done. Said it was the closest place he could find to have it done. Thanks guys I think I am going to jump on it.

I got it but I am having idling problems and a switch problem. The switch that runs the rear steer is a 35 amp on off on toggle switch but it keeps blowing the switch. I have tried to find one with more amps but can't any ideas?

probably pull the idle air screw, pilot jet and blow out.count how many turns to bottom out the idleair screw so you can put it back in the same spot.

switch problem

see if there is a relay. shouldnt need a bigger switch. if the relay is wired correctly it will have the load the switch just activates
