SI SEC Preview Magazine re: Ware

I picked up Sports Illustrated's SEC Preview mag today and looked at their All-SEC picks and they have Ware as 2nd team behind Lattimore. Does anyone have this much confidence in him going in to the year to be better than Knile or Lacy? I know the consensus on the rant is that Blue and Ford are probably better backs and I haven't heard much talk about Ware or especially seen confidence like this. Thoughts?

He really faded after his suspension

Some people forget how punishing he can be (pre-synthetic THC). He just wore defenses down until his suspension.
I loved our pro-Ware offense.

Knile is coming off a major injury and Lacy has been mostly a banged-up backup to date.

Ware is a stud and will be a NFL player

shouldnt even be 2nd team All-LSU

Hilliard and Ford are better for sure. He'd a good back but he really hasn't separated himself from the pack.

3rd best RB on our roster on a good day.
Lacy is overrated and wont even be staring by the end of the season

I agree i would love to see him succeed but i dont think he's the 2nd best back on our team much less the SEC

the best Pros will be
1)Hilliard
2)Ford
3)Hill
4)Ware
5)Blue (if he makes it)
Miles seems to like them in almost the exact opposite order

I don't get the Ware hate. If you re-watch some games from early season, he wrecked some LB's. I don't believe he is our best back but he definitely deserves a good bit of carries. We're spoiled when we can talk about players of his caliber not even being in the two deep (even if it is a committee).

I know a lot of rantards don't really know football, so this will get hate. Ware IS OUR BEST ALL AROUND BACK. Picking up blitz, getting tough yards, and pass catching.

Freak said Ware is the RB he least likes to defend.

True, Ware has earned his spot in the coaches eyes and he does everything so well, not just running with the ball. And that is a good thing for him because I think Hilliard and Hill are the best two on the team followed by Ford.
But that said Magee, Ware and Blue are all quality backs. We just have the most loaded RB corps in college football history.

Blue has the greatest potential amongst any of our backs in the pros.
Ford will be productive there.
Ware's punishing style will have him fading in terms of a professional career long before the others. Just puts his body under too much duress.
Hilliard has the ability to be a feature back in the NFL in time. As does Hill. But that's way down the road (at least three years obviously).
Some folks may sleep on him but I think if Terrance Magee could redshirt this year, he'd be unbelievable as a RS Sophomore next year. He seems to be really caught in a logjam behind our trio of Juniors & Hilliard. Putting a year between he & Kenny would really set things up nicely going forward with him & Jeremy Hill being in the same class.
I think Magee could start at tailback for many SEC programs and to not utilize him properly would show not only the embarrassment of riches this program has at that spot but also a bit of an oversight on the part of the staff. It was not wise-at all-to not redshirt him last year.
Then again, knowing we were taking Hill & redshirting Magee could've been a bit of a negative recruiting angle for others in terms of going after guys like Fournette in '14.
Anyway re: Ware, don't be surprised if he's a tad further down the pecking order than some of you think. This year's running game will be a tad different. The passing game will open the run-lanes up some more & we'll need kids to hit the crease at top speed & Blue & Ford both have top-end speed superior to Spencer.
On top of that, Ware was hobbled in the offseason program by a leg injury that really kept him from keeping up from a conditioning standpoint. He's better now but he's actually practicing himself into shape. Its retarded his development and that could translate into reps on the field. Again just my opinion so take that FWIW.
