Loved the book, but how the heck will the story translate to the big screen?

I'm not going to lie: I couldn't finish this book. I just didn't like it.

But the trailer looks beautiful.

how far did you get in? it's seriously the slowest starting book i've ever read in my life. once you get into it, it takes no time at all, though.

highly recommend reading it.

Maybe 100 pages. It was tedious.

I can't remember exactly, but it wasn't till around 170-180ish, IIRC, that it kinda started to get to a point where I couldn't put it down.

Never heard of this, but this:
quote:

Pi (Suraj Sharma) is a youth who is the only person to survive the sinking of a freighter. He finds himself on a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Bengal tiger.

..is a cool premise, and the trailer is gorgeous.

I wonder if they will keep the ending from the book, or make it a little more....palatable for wider audiences.

i do believe so, yes

i pray they do keep it the same, and based off what I'm seeing in the trailer, certain elements of the filming lead me to believe they will. i know that sounds stupid, but maybe if you look closely you can see what i'm talking about. i don't want to give away anything for those who haven't read the book though.

That tiger would eat that kid in an instance. Not believable. Will not watch.

Though I didn't love the book, I will admit it does stick in your mind for a while. It looks like it will be a really cool movie.

WHAT THE frick!!!
I was planning on reading this book, now you've basically told me there will be a sad ending, which means half way through I will know the book will only end a few different ways. Thanks a lot

Way to jump the gun.

And be incorrect in the process.

I read the book and wasn't all that impressed. Very slow. Overhyped. It was supposed to be some life changing story, but I finished the book and as soon as I set it down I forgot the ending. I just had to read a synopsis to remind myself what the hell happened that was so great about the ending.
