So what some of you are saying is that you would want Les Miles to kick an LSU scholarship player off the team so that we have room for someone from a mediocre Big Ten program who doesn't know our playbook and probably couldn't pick it up properly this season?

You thought oversigning recruits was such a big deal, let Miles do this shite and see how many people throw his arse under the bus.

I'm so glad you finally weighed in on this topic. You're a beacon of knowledge and a myriad of emotions came over me when I saw this post. I bet I could write a short story, hell a novel, based solely on the way your post moved me.

I had heard from a source that we may be looking into a WR but not entirely sure.

If the players are so mediocre, why is USC going after Silas Redd so hard?

If there is available scholarship, then I would like to get a good WR or TE.

That wouldn't have to happen but don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant.

The first year only. If it's an underclassman, he would count against the 25 limit next signing class and the 85 limit overall beginning next year.

has the NCAA made a definitive statement regarding relaxing scholarship limits? Last I saw said they were "considering" it.

from ncaa.com

quote:

Additionally, the NCAA is considering waiving scholarship limits for programs to which these football student-athletes transfer, provided they reduce proportionately in the next year. For example, the limit is 25 new scholarships per year to a total of 85 scholarships. If the limits are waived in 2012-13 to accommodate one Penn State student-athlete who wishes to transfer to a particular school already at the limits, in 2013-14 the school will be limited to 24 new scholarships and 84 total scholarships.

Players leaving PSU and going to another school dont count against the 85 scholarship players that are currently on a D1 roster, so no one would get "kicked off the team" or lose their scholly. With that said, I still don't think we need to go after anyone.

This isn't even a comparison. Mettenberger was signed in a recruiting class, not even close to the same.

They do not count against the 85. And a player like Gerald Hodge would easily be able to transition to SEC ball and would probably become a starter at OLB.

Personally, I would take a battle-proven starter over a 4-star question mark.....Big 10 or not, you'd have a proven college resume'. BUT, it would have to be the right fit.

ETA: Link to first year only please.
