Their behavior and that of a lot of Penn State fans is what makes me far less callous over the NCAA punishments doled out. It's pretty clear that crazy arse pedestal culture wasn't wiped out by removing the people with evidence of being directly involved.

Exactly. It is quite obvious that the whole clan has totally bought into the "coach first, human being second" mentality. Of paramount importance to them is the fact that Joe was a good football coach and a record holder for wins. Pretty sad statement on the character of the entire Paterno family.

Much like everyone else has said already, they need to STFU.
Furthermore, if the family holds Penn State so accountable and in such contempt for the tarnishing of Joe "look the other way" Paterno's legacy, It would only be right for them to hand back that sweet severance package Penn State was kind enough to give them.

i feel sorry for them. but every time they speak or put out a statement, i feel less sorry for them. i don't know what they expect but it's been proven that joe let everyone down, including them and in a horrible way that enabled more young men's lives to be ruined than would have happened if he had just done the right thing. their best bet is to just lie low and wait this period out until way down the road.
