We are getting started on a new fundraiser for a local nonprofit youth - teen club. We are tossing around ideas on how to raise money for them. In any case, my suggestion was a raffle for guns. We are looking at giving away ~$10,000 in guns.

What I am here to ask is what 20 guns would you want to see on a raffle list. They should average out to a retail price circa $500 per gun. Keep in mind they can be above and below, just dont exceed $10,000 total. If you will please give me a list and approximate cost of each gun. Please stick to rifles and shotguns. Be specific on makes and models.

We are thinking we will raffle the guns separately but you will have a chance to win more than once. What would you pay for this if we limit the ticket pool to 1000 total tickets sold? This means you have a 1/1000 shot at any one gun and a 1/50 overall to win a gun(at least by what I remember from stats and probability). Limiting it to 1000 tickets means we have to sell them for more than 10 to profit anything.

Cliffs: Give me a list of guns, 20 total that add up to $10,000. No pistols. What you you pay for a raffle ticket of this nature.

I have seen a few of these... they were a gun a week for 52 weeks.. Sold 999 tickets and used the pick 3 lottery numbers. 50 bucks a ticket.
Some of the guns were $200 .22. others were $800 a bolts... I am pretty sure they got a discount on the guns too from dealer

I didnt answer your question but I wanted to comment anyway.

It limits the pool of possible people to sell tickets too. They would have to be 21, where shotguns and riffles they would have to be 18.

We are planning on doing the same or similar, but a gun a day, M - F, for four consecutive weeks. We are not set in stone in any capacity just developing ideas.

Just a word of advice, it is very tough to sell 1,000 raffle tickets. Trust me I am doing it right now for another fundraiser. I'm not sure if you guys have it or not, but you have to go through a shite ton of paperwork in order to be legal for a raffle of that size.

I would be inclined to learn more about this paperwork you speak of. Do you know details?

email sent, thanks

So no takers on a hypothetical $10,000 to spend on 20 guns, figured I would have at least 1 list by now Thought king ranch would be on here trying to list a new "1911 riffle" or a judge comment would be thrown in

Ruger 10/22
Ruger M77
Browning A-Bolt
Remington 700
Winchester 70
Thompson/Center Dimension (which is what I'm eyeballing right now)
Remington 870
Mossberg 500

eta: And for that kind of raffle, I'd be willing to pay $20 a ticket

I'm sure someone would catch this along the way... but just in case... those riffles you wanta raffle only has one f in it.

Not sure who your target market is, but are you sure you want to exclude handguns to include the 18, 19, and 20 year olds? I wouldn't think this would typically be a big donating group... but it might be depending on your organization.

A lot of people don't hunt (with rifles or shotguns), but might buy to win a Colt 1911, a Glock or some other urban defense...

Good luck and salute for your work.
