Who's got what and tell me about it.

Just bought my little girl a 3 gallon little glofish aquarium. Pretty cool, got 5 glofish and a sucker fish.

But i've kind of been wanting to do a bigger tank. Would love to do saltwater but never done before. Any case, i'm kind of itching to do something but want to learn a bit more first.

I have a 60 gallon and 5 gallon saltwater. It's quite a bit of work to say the least.

that's about the size i'd be interested in? What are your "cleaning" procedures?

Used to have a 100 gallon saltwater. Do not do saltwater unless you are willing to pay someone to come once a month and clean/maintain it.

Its a total PIA, and most of the fish eat/kill each other.

We had a moray eel commit suicide, kept jumping out of the tank

i had a 60 gallon, but i killed all the fish so i quit using it. It was a bunch of work and i could never keep the water looking clean. I think the bitch at petsmart steered me wrong on the filter.

Not too much actually, clean the front glass with what ever to keep the algae off. Once a week or once every other week you need to do a 20% water change and clean the filter. Mine also has a skimmer that needs to be cleaned every few days.

If a fish dies the crabs and shrimp eat it in a day or two.

salt water aquariums are money pits. you should just get a big empty tank and throw 100 dollar bills in it every week.

Freshwater is easier.
I had two 55 gallon tanks on a custom stand.
Had big Oscars in them.
Was über cool but costly.
Chics dug it.

Now it's all gone. I have 3 gallon w Molly's in it for the kids.

I used to have 5 saltwater tanks in my house several years ago. Loved it. Had everything from a seahorse nursery to a Leopard shark in a 150 gallon tank.

I have a 30 gallon fresh water tank right now though. I sold all of my tanks years ago and just now got one on Craigslist for $90. Came with everything including filter and fish.
Its all acrylic including the stand and hood.
I would highly recommend getting an acrylic tank no less than 50 gallons for saltwater if you plan on going that route.

what can I say,I'm not either.
Hey the kids wanted some fish and it was cheap as hell.
You want some serious advice I can give it to you. I'm a member of Coral Connection in Kenner and know several Wholesalers in the area who supply most stores including Marks Marine.

Mine jumped out with my ex at home. Stupid bitch was too scared to pick it up and put it back in the tank and it died. I wanted to curb stomp that bitch when I got home I was so mad. Had her for 2 years.

Edit: The shark,not the ex

I used to have a couple of freshwater tanks. I always wanted to set up a tank with a bass to see how large he would grow.

Oh, to bring this back to OB related stuff, get a Dojo loach (aka Weather loach). They flip out when a storm approaches. I had one for years. You have to keep the top closed because they will jump out of the tank and they will bury themselves in the travel for weeks. Just when you think it is dead, it will reappear. They also tame pretty easily and will eat out of your hands.

no such thing.Anything they call a "shark" for freshwater is a lie and they all suck

Tell you what I got and they're really cool for a freshwater fish and it isn't a Cichlid is the African Leaf fish.
