With the Mavs reportedly making a push for Scola, could this mean that they won't push as hard for Brand?

I would just bid more than the max the mavs can spend to assure we get brand.

#8 seed and playoff experience is essential.

Timing will allow the Mavs to learn the results of the Brand bid before putting in for Scola. Scola is plan B, and won't affect how much the Mavs bid on Brand.

I think they've eyed every FA that was better than decent so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if they pursued both.

not enough cap space to bid on both with competitive bids.

I'd be really surprised if the Mavs were willing to Commit themselves to Scola for 3 years. Brand's 1 year contract and skill set fits what the Mavs are trying to do MUCH MUCH better.

No. Scola is plan B for Dallas. If Dallas gets Brand, no bid for Scola. So do Hornets swoop in maybe?

Asking around, not as much interest among uncapped teams for Scola bid as you'd think. Minimum bid is $3+ million in year one, $10M total.
