For me it's the 80's. After reading thru the lost hit of the 80's thread I realize that music will never be this good again IMO
The music of the 80's will forever be a etched in my soul.
It transcends

Whatever decade you were growing up in. Most people will argue that the music in their teenage years was the best ever.

Not for me. I like the music of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Not sure I could say one is better than the other.

60s! Not even that close for me.

*I realize some of these artists had hits and albums after the 60s.

The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Jimi, Janis, James Brown, The Motown artists, The Who, Cream, Byrds, Kinks, The Doors...list goes on.

I couldn't pick one. Love plenty of stuff from every decade from '60s to '00s.

60's: if you like music that's about more than "I love you baby" or "You broke my heart", well ... the 60's changed all that. The fences around rock music, which confined it mostly to teen love, we're knocked down between Rubber Soul, the Stones, Bob Dylan and others. That decade paved the way for unrestricted musical exploration in subsequent decades.

I agree with this being the best. However:

I don't know how anyone trying to be at least slightly objective can make this claim. The very worst of the 80s is 10,000,000,000 times better than even what has been considered "good" music from about 1999 on. The latter half of the 70s was certainly weaker than the 80s and the later half of the 90s was pretty weak too. The fact is that 1981 thru 1993 (the video music era) is EASILY the 2nd best era of modern music. The span from about 1963 thru 1975 will probably never be rivaled again though.

I would definitely agree to tag on the first few years of the 90's as the best overall for me

Lower tier decade of music in my lifetime and it isn't close.

It's really difficult to argue against the 1960s and 1970s.

I grew up in the 90's and I love a ton of music from then but the 70's is probably the best decade as far as hits and game-changing bands.

No one is arguing against the 60s and certainly not the first half of the 70s. The latter half of the 70s into the extremely early 80s was pretty lame though.

You're entitled to your opinion but the 80s was an incredibly diverse and deep for music across nearly every imaginable genre. The 60s and early 70s was the golden age of rock n roll, R&B, and funk, but the 80s were also notable for very solid across an incredibly diverse number of genres.

I dont consider a lot of what has been recorded post 1999 as music. That said, the 80's was filled with men with big hair singing love ballads and disco pants. The real rock came from the late 60's early 70's, and picked back up in the grundge age of the 90s

So in the last 13 years?

That grossly stupid IMO

There's been a ton of great music In that time span. But you probably base that statement off of the radio

I am going to have to go with the 80's. There were a lot of great rock bands that took it to the next level at this time. The 70's and 90's are definitely tied for a very close second. I was not around during the 60's and I am also not a big Beatles/Dylan/Stones person.
