You mean tie it on top of the rear of the kayak, or drag it? If you mean drag it...I didn't think they were made to float.

Any places to go kayak fishing in Baton Rouge... besides the LSU lakes?

Do I need any type of "running" lights on my kayak to fish at night in Mobile Bay?

If you are going to operate at night and you are non-powered, you will need a white light, such as a lantern or flashlight that will be visible to other boaters. If you anchor out, this light must stay on at all times. If you put a motor on the canoe, you will have to use the same light configuration as any other motorboat: red and green light on the bow (red to port-left, green to starboard-right) and an all-around white light (visible 360 degrees) on the stern. Lighting kits that have battery operated lights can be clipped or clamped onto a canoe.

I want to go yak fishing.

Coast Guard states that all you need is a flashlight/spotlight to be able to shine to prevent collision.
As far as constant running nav lights, it looks like they are optional.
You can probably get a 360 degree light on a pole and just put it in one of the rod holders to be safe.

I was kind of curious myself.
I guess that's why so many people have those flag poles with the light on them. Damn things are $100 though. I think i'll just hang a lantern.

I think I'll just have a flashlight for kicks. I will be within 100 yards of the shore the entire time fishing lights on the end of people's piers

I've made this one. I haven't actually used it much except for early morning before the sun comes up. Works well enough.

Same here.
Went to Leeville last Friday. Only got to fish for a few hours before the monsoon started. Mostly caught undersized trout. Hardly any keepers.
I feel cheated.

Yall need to get on the stick!
B&B,
There is another forum, Pensacola Fishing Forum, that has a lot of good info on fishing the gulf. A lot of Panhandle guys who go out of Pensacola beach and Navarre.
I've been wanting to give it a shot, but can't find anyone interested in going.
They catch a lot of Cobia, AJ, Snapper, Mahi, Kings, Spanish, Bonita, Sharks, Pompano. And from time to time they will catch Grouper, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna and even Sail Fish.
If I were in Daphne, i'd be all over it.
