Anybody brew anything over the Father's Day Weekend?

My pops and I brewed yesterday. He brewed an Belgian Wit and I brewed a London Porter. I was half a lb short of Brown Malt, so hopefully it comes out okay. I need to get better at reading recipes before I order/go to the store. My dad brews extract and has gotten good enough that he really doesn't need my help anymore.

I tested out a new sparging system that worked really well for the most part. Outside of some leaking barb fittings (which I need to fix), everything worked great.

Fermentation of the porter is at 62 degrees, so it will probably be slow, hopefully when I get home today it will be up and going. We shall see.

Anyone else want to entertain me with stories from the weekend?

You've got a lot of people here willing to show you the way. Plus I'm sure there are some good homebrew supply stores in Dallas.

Racking our Kriek on to cherries tonight. It put off a bubble yesterday while I was in the beer room so apparently it's still kicking along.

I didn't brew anything this weekend.. I still have my brew from this past Tuesday in my primary... I need to start thinking about what my next brew is gonna be... I am thinking about an IPA, but with summer just getting on the way I am considering some kind of fruited beer. Just another thing I haven't tried yet that could expand my ability and challenge my knowledge.

Anyone have a good recipe for something summer-like?

Most poeple in BR order from them. I have ordered before and thought they were solid. I am trying to buy local now from Marcello's but they dont quite have a ton of stuff yet. The more I buy, the better their supplies will get though.

Personally I like making Kolschs, Belgian Pale Ales, or Wheat beers in the summer. You can always add fruit of choice to any of those styles.

Yea. I was thinking of this. My first brew was a wheat beer and I loved the flavor. I was thinking of doing another one now that I have a little bit more skill and understanding.

I thoroughly enjoyed the BPA and the Honey Blonde ale with Strawberries we brewed a few months ago. So simple yet so delicious.

Those hops are beautiful... I tried to grow some this year, but the Dog kept getting to them so I quit. Ill try again next year hopefully.

I think Im gonna go with a strawberry beer. My mom would like that and she has been a big drinker of my beer. haha. As long as I have 2 beers on keg I can have a fruit beer as a starter then move on to my other brew.
