I never hear anything about this show. Can anyone offer an opinion? To be honest I bought the entire series and have never opened it. I decided instead to rematch The Wire.

Very good show, maybe drags it's feet a little bit in the middle, begin to think that nothing will ever progress, then picks up steam again and leaves you fully satisfied.

As a huge fan of The Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Dexter, etc. I can honestly say The Shield is probably right behind The Wire for my favorite drama TV show right now. Will have to see how Dexter and BB end.

It is nerve racking from beginning to end and never has a slow season. Take 40 minutes and watch the first episode. I'll bet you $100 you watch the second.

definiately great. Michael Chicklis (sp?) is the tits. You will want every cop in every show to be as big of a badass as him.

You wouldn't watch one of the greatest series finales in television history? The last season of the Shield shites all over the Sopranos

Great show. Loved the show, but it left my stomach in knots a lot because of the roller coaster situations. Made you care too much for some of the characters regardless of the shite they pulled (except maybe towards the end) and I didn't want them to get caught, but in a way I did.

Met him this weekend. Damn near shat myself. His acting in the final season is maybe the best I've ever seen on television.

Best pilot and best finale of any show I've ever watched.

Not quite the intricate slow build of say, The Wire, but certainly more episode to episode excitement. Just from watching The Shield and Terriers, I'd say Shawn Ryan does the best of any showrunner in balancing multi-season/season/episode payoffs.

Vic Mackey (Chiklis) is arguably the greatest anti-hero in film history (although Walter White is making a strong case). As has been mentioned the ending is also one of the best ever.

As everyone else has said this show is that good. This show took cop drama/action to a whole different level.

Everyone that talks about it speaks very highly of it. But I think it suffers in that it was on at roughly the same time The Wire, and The Wire gets so much praise that people (probably unintentionally) just forget to mention The Shield.
