After Rewatching the season finale and really appreciating the scene between the younger Starks and Maester Luwin, I think he is up there amongst the underrated characters. Seeing Drogo again reminded me how hard it must be to convey your character not only in a foreign language, but in a made-up one (but since Drogo got so much love in season 1, he probably doesn't qualify as underrated)

Luwin's a good one.

Tywin. Easily top 3 characters in the series for me.

Barristan. Jaqen

Possible slight spoilers as I have read the books but don't now where the show is right now.

Maester Luwins death affected me pretty bad, I really liked him as a teacher and a strong father figure to the younger generation.

Also Hodor.

stannis is my favorite character on the show & books. for anyone who read the gift chapter to Winds of Winter...that reply to the warning a certain character gave was bad arse.

As is Melisandre. Really wonder how Mel and R'hllor the Lord of Light help Stannis as the saga continues.

heatom2--that "slightly spoilerish" scene you were talking about was exactly what I was referring to. Seeing him send the boys on their way was powerful. That character was cast perfectly. Because it's a relatively small part he doesn't get a lot of accolades, just seems to go unnoticed (20 times more people bitch about how useless Dany is than mention Luwin) but Rewatching that scene, it really struck me what a great supporting character he is and what a great job the actor does.

I agree with others that Stannis is probably pretty underrated too. I love Tywin's casting and he's a great character but I wouldn't call him underrated, at least not by this board.

Maester Luwin and Tywin are two that I really like. I don't know if he is underrated, but Bronn is a good character too.

Bron is not underrated.......Most love that character.

I say Vargo Hoat, from the books.
