I have a rather large lawn and 3/4 of it is centipede, with a small mixture of Bermuda. On one backside corner, the entire area is Bermuda. How can I get my lawn back to an all centipede lawn? I like the centipede b/c it seems to be very low maintenance, and is a nice turf that you don’t have to bag. Centipede lawn and invading Bermuda grass

Good luck. Other than on a golf course, bermuda is a weed. Hate the stuff.

Go to your localfeed store and buy a product called vantage. It is the only thing I have found that will kill bermuda and not centipede. It will take 2-3 weeks before the Bermuda will be completely dead but that chemical is ledgit. You may have to treat your yard several times a year but you will be Bermuda free. The vantage comes in a little white container and cost 40 bucks but is worth it's weight in gold. I spray about 7000 sq feet and I can usually get 2 treatments out of one 8oz bottle. I spray with a potato pump. I've been using it for 2 years now. Good luck

I had a similar problem several years ago with my Centipede lawn when I noticed that Bermuda had infiltrated the Centipede. I killed the entire area with Roundup and replanted Centipede sod. About a year later I noticed a few sprigs of Bermuda and definitely did not plan on killing and re-planting again.

I found a product called Over the Top at Clegg's Nursery in Baton Rouge. You mix it with an oil to make sure that it stays on the grass. This product has worked well for me in that it kills the Bermuda but not the Centipede.

Not sure but I don't see why not. After readung a little on the internet it should work on st. aug. Google Vangage Grass Killer. You can get it there a little cheaper than the feed stores. On the lable it talks about doing spot treatments but ive always sprayed over my entire lawn.

Also, do some research and find the optimal height for your grass and keep it there. This will help keep your lawn dense and control anything else. This may mean more frequent mowing.

I am pretty sure vantage CANNOT be used on St. Aug. It is legit on centipede though.

Common man, it just needs a little TLC

And he is right, if bermuda is invading centipede your probably cutting too low, and giving the bermuda an advantage
