The other passengers in the boat said they were able to locate Tate twice after he fell overboard, but that they were never able to reach him before he disappeared, the LDWF reported.

I'm not familiar with lake P so I ask how this is possible.

i fish there a good bit. It can get pretty rough out there, but i am 100% sure that if my padnuh fell overboard and i saw him/her i would have to jump in after them. I dont see how it could have been that rough this morning though, i may be wrong though.

The incident happened at 3:30am. They must have been fishing the full moon. That is how they lost sight of him after locating him. Supposedly it was rough and he fell in. Yes this is the incident WWL was reporting on this morning.

been out there when it got rough. Fished the tressels, launched bayou liberty. It got bad one night, I thought I was going to sink my 16ft flat.

Driving down the hump one day, vehicles were swerving in front, dust cloud, and everything came to a stop. Everyone was running to the rail. We got out and ran to the rail. Truck went over. One guy swam up, the other never made it. Boats and a jetski came over. One guy jumped in from the bridge. That was something I never want to have to get out of.

Wear a PFD!

Slidell, La. - A search is underway Tuesday for a Slidell man that fell overboard from a fishing boat into Lake Pontchartrain.

It happened around 3:30am in Slidell near the foot of the old twinspans where a new fishing pier was recently built.

According to the Coast Guard and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, four people were on the boat when the man fell. The others on board told investigators that the water was rough and that the man was not wearing a life jacket.

The Coast Guard has a helicopter and a 45 foot response boat assisting in the search.

According to La. Wildlife and Fisheries, the missing man is identified as 21 year-old Isiah Tate

I was just curious. Someone said it was pre-dawn, that would make sense.

Man if I went fishing with a friends and didn't come back with one, I don't know if I'd be able to get back in a boat. Truly heart breaking.

I have no problem putting on a PDF. At night and when it is rough, this is could save your life.

One extra idea for at night. Saw a friend do this the other night with his son. He put on a green light stick to his PDF. If one was to go over, you would be able to see the person with the light stick. Times of this situation could be chaotic, therefore the light will help spot the person. It also helps when in the boat. It creates a little light around you for the things you do.

Sometimes when I'm fishing yo-yo's at night, I'll break one open and throw it on the floor of my boat.

I'm sure it was officially changed from a rescue to a search hours ago.

Depending on what he ate, etc. the body will surface. For the family's sake, there's a lot to be said about THAT. A game warden that coached me told me how they'd pull up bodies the crabs were eating.

Why not wear a life vest when running the boat all the time. Better to look uncool and alive than cool and dead. If you fall off at any speed a life vest will save your arse.
