New Orleans Rugby Football Club has won another national championship. This time, our 2nd side won the Division 3 Club Championship, defeating Philadelphia-Whitemarsh 36-20. There are 191 Division 3 rugby teams in the USA.
In 2011, our 1st XV won the Division 2 championship. In 2012, our 1st side moved up to Division 1, where we went undefeated in the regular season, winning the South region. NORFC lost to Chicago in the Division 1 playoffs.

New Orleans adds another trophy to the cabinet, this time in DIII.
GLENDALE, Colo. – This time last year, New Orleans came to Glendale for the Emirates Airline Men’s Club Championships, and walked away with a DII National Championship. This year, their second side made the trip to Colorado, are now DIII National Champions.
The 2012 Emirates Airline USA Rugby DIII Men’s Club National Championship trophy was hoisted by NOLA after a hard fought battle with Philadelphia Whitemarsh.
MVP Andrew Quackenbos was unbeatable with his kicking for goal and his tactical kicking as well from the Fullback position. He had 15 points to his name, all penalties, at the half. Philly scored in the 9th minutes to take a brief 5-3 lead, and it looked like they would pile on more too. NOLA was camped out on their own five meter line for what felt like an eternity. Posession would go back and forth, but ulitimetly NOLA was able to clear their line and releave the pressure. Halftime score 15-8 NOLA.
Philly Whitemarsh made a comeback in the 61st minute when Louis Tulio gathered an errant ball and scooted in 30 meters for a try. It was 28-15 to NOLA at that point, and anybody’s game to play for.
New Orleans Wing Kevin Ndongi would put a quick end to that momentum however. Philly dropped the ensuing kickoff, and Ndongi was Johnny on-the-spot to collect the ball as soon as it hit the deck, and would race untouched in for another NOLA try.
Tulio would add one more for Philly, but it was too little too late as NOLA #8 Peter Bell put the nail in the coffin and gave the DIII club from New Orleans the 36-20 win.
New Orleans 36
Tries: E. Mackintosh, Ndongi, Bell
Cons: Quackenbos (3)
Pens: Quackenbos (5)
Philadelphia-Whitemarsh 20
Tries: Conway, Tulio (2)
Cons: Rosato
Pens: Rosato

Congrats. What are you doing to the guy in front of you?

Michigan Rugby (the name of the team I played for in Ann Arbor) played Cleveland a year or two ago. Worst injury I ever saw playing. One of their players tried to juke right and got hit left. His knee cap ending up in his quad. Not pretty
ETA: Congrats on the title
You playing 7's this summer?

I'll participate in a tournament or two, but my body type doesn't liken me to much 7s.

There's the Mudfish tourney in Dallas, which has a division specifically for guys like you...
We have "the Man Side", which is several of our forwards rumbling around.

They're good in sevens this year.
Solid Division 2 club. Really good bunch of guys.

We are thinking about sponsoring them is the reason I ask...

They couldn't touch our 1st side. They forfeited instead of traveling to play us in last year's South playoffs. Against our 2nd side it would be an interesting matchup.
Having said that, I support any sponsorship for a rugby club. The geography of the South makes for long distances to cover each week. Birmingham is a good club on the upswing.

Holy shite AJ got MVP! I grew up with him and played soccer for years together. He was always so skinny. I ran into him a couple years back at a Saints game and noticed he bulked up a little.
Congrats Bus

Congrates Bus
I wanted to ask about the Rugby Pub
I pass by there all the time, and was wondering which building it actually is?
The yellow building or the little white one next door? and when are the hours?

It's the yellow building. You gotta walk thru the little awning to get to the entrance in the back by the patio.
Not sure of the hours.
