I'm guessing Laird either started this thread or posted in it knighting himself.

I can assure u that Mark hasn't posted on here. He is the most humble player I have ever met. I love how people get on here and ASSume so much about the kid. For the love of God why don't u do a little research on your on instead of going on assumptions. Really it's not hard to do, just read or listen to any interview he's ever done. He makes RS look like Ocho, He is that humble.

Small north louisiana class A school without the hyper exposure of other teams in louisiana.

Great for this kid being a man and ignoring all the cowards like many on here and chasing his dream.

He has already shown more character by walking on at LSU AND BEING ACCEPTED than 99.9999999% of the nerds on this board.

Top athlete from a small school....you just never know until you get em on the weights and see how they develope.

Sounds like a heck of an athlete but at 170, Moffit's gonna have to do his work before the kid has much of an impact on the football field.

I agree with you 100%. Kid is chasing his dream and looks to be focused. Wish him all the best. Nice catch in outfield today. If he does not do another thing at LSU he has already proved his worth---it can only go up from here. Congrats!!

My jaw dropped last night when he flew down the first base line after that foul bunt. The kid can fly.

Supposedly he is sticking with baseball only now..two outstanding catches today! Yeah he is fast!

While it's true the SEC is big boy football.Laird could easily go to a ULM as a WR and show teams like Arkansas(they beat) & Auburn(lost in OT)what they missed out on. Getting open at will against the supposed superior athletes...like ULM- Brent Leonard did earlier this season...who had a total of 18 receptions vs the two SEC teams

To anyone belittling him here or elsewhere you are pathetic. Congrats to ML! Glad he didn't listen to the haters.

Please, he will play the best player. If you're insinuating he would be embarassed by a non scholly player you're wrong.
Another thing, how come Laird is being talked down as a football player. He was dominant against players that people on this forum are hailing as part of one of LSU's greatest recruiting classes.
Excellent athlete, good grades, no off field issues,so stop the negativity, he's a Tiger. I guess since Rocky Duplessis has graduated a new whipping boy has to be created. Pathetic really. Lastly, since I mentioned Duplessis he stayed after his dream to come to LSU, got here, worked hard, studied hard, got degree, and played well in his role. Is he an LSU great, no, but he should be shown as an example of what is right with collegiate athletics, not ridiculed. He's done more in his twenty's than a large group of his detractors will ever do in a lifetime.

According to some on 104.5 said kid can get from third to home quicker than Jared Mitchell. White boy got some wheels if that is true.

Is this the same Mark Laird DD reported on today?
The one player who really stood out on defense was freshman Mark Laird, as the speedy rightfielder from Ouachita Christian in Monroe tracked down two deep flies in the top of the seventh inning and made a spectacular grab over the wall by the LSU bullpen.
