re: Mark Laird walking on to Football, BaseballPosted by Good Times on 2/17/13 at 8:07 am to JJ27
All things considered, I'm proud that he's a Tiger, and hope that he achieves all of his goals. He seems to be off to a good start.

Please, he will play the best player. If you're insinuating he would be embarassed by a non scholly player you're wrong.
Another thing, how come Laird is being talked down as a football player. He was dominant against players that people on this forum are hailing as part of one of LSU's greatest recruiting classes.
Excellent athlete, good grades, no off field issues,so stop the negativity, he's a Tiger. I guess since Rocky Duplessis has graduated a new whipping boy has to be created. Pathetic really. Lastly, since I mentioned Duplessis he stayed after his dream to come to LSU, got here, worked hard, studied hard, got degree, and played well in his role. Is he an LSU great, no, but he should be shown as an example of what is right with collegiate athletics, not ridiculed. He's done more in his twenty's than a large group of his detractors will ever do in a lifetime.
glad to have him on the baseball team, been needing that kind of speed in the outfield

I'm not mad at all, just tired of Tigers eating their own. Any kid that comes to LSU should get the respect they've earned. Some on the forum will bash a productive citizen, but defend another athlete that runs afoul of the law. Does get old.
You're right on about the speed. Much needed.

He certainly played as advertised tonight!! Kudos to all who said he's all that.
Yes, those north LA Tiger fans deserve credit.
And those who ridiculed and mocked them deserve raspberries. That would be BilJ and Prominentlost, who owe apologies to them and all Tiger Nation.

Why? Not one person in this thread said anything negative about Laird's baseball skills. The discussions were about his level of ability to play football. I don't see how anything has been proved either way with respect to that question.
ETA: The OP's post would be dumb even if Laird turned into an All-American at WR. It deserved mocking.

Looking at how Laird played vs. BYU, it looks like baseball could well be his sport. But no doubt, he is a talented athlete who can certainly contribute a lot. I think Manieri needs him right now to keep playing the way he has started this season.

He is everything we were missing last year
