LSU may have gotten a good one. Mark Laird, the star of Ouachita Christian's state championship football team has decided to walk on to LSU. He is a WR,DB. He is 6'2", 170 lbs. Check out this link: Mark Laird 2010

By the way, his coach thinks he is great!

Why did the guy get no offers from anyone?

McNeese and SLC offered, but he wanted to come to LSU.

Rivals never rated him, but fans who looked at his videos rated him as a 4 star.

He is evidently an excellent athlete, however whether or not he can compete in the SEC is another question. I am happy he will get a chance at LSU. At least, with a 4.0 GPA, he won't be an academic casualty.

Glad he is walking on, but they are probably all from Monroe, Louisiana.

Interesting that his highlight video focuses on his ability to catch the football, but Rivals has him projected as a safety! Coach says he can cover the best La has to offer.

Maybe he can bring some of those crossing pattern plays with him.

Andrew Hatch and James Stampley disagree.

He had about 4K receiving yards and 50-60 TDs if not more at OCS as well as 20+ interceptions. I'm not affiliated with OCS in any way and the kid is legit. He didn't get offers because his girlfriend goes to LSU already and he was all LSU.

maybe he didn't get any offers because he doesn't project as much more than a special teams super star. I'm happy to have him but frick... lets be realistic here. Maybe he's Steltz, Sehorn, Welker, and Deon Sanders wrapped into one

Is Mark Laird considered a preferred, or invited, walk on?
