Spreadsheets of Basic and Advanced Stats for Potential Draftees

Found these on Twitter from a guy who writes on SacTown Royalty. Nice to have it all in one place.

Here's a Glossary for the categories

LINK

A couple of thoughts:

-TRob is a DREB machine. He would fit very with Monty
-Drummond is a pretty good shot blocker
-The wings at the top don't really stand out much to me just from looking at advanced statistics. Obviously that is not the only consideration.
-Lillard's TS% is outrageous and his TOV% is remarkable for a guy handling the ball so much. If he shows up at pre-draft workouts, he may not be around at 10.

Any time. It's been a long 3 weeks. Just want the ping pong balls to drop so we can have a clearer picture.

re: Spreadsheets of Basic and Advanced Stats for Potential Draftees

I had to adjust the basic stats to be more representative. I basically broke their important stats down by 40 for the bigs, which is where the top pick will likely be used.

Points per 40:
1 Andrew Nicholson
2 Tyler Zeller
3 Jared Sullinger
4 Thomas Robinson
5 Ricardo Ratliffe
6 Kevin Jones
7 Kyle O'Quinn
8 Draymond Green
9 JaMychal Green
10 John Henson
11 Arnett Moultrie
12 Drew Gordon
13 Anthony Davis
14 Perry Jones
15 Festus Ezeli
16 Meyers Leonard
17 Royce White
18 Henry Sims
19 Terrence Jones
20 Andre Drummond
21 Fab Melo

Rebounds per 40:
1 Thomas Robinson
2 Drew Gordon
3 Tyler Zeller
4 John Henson
5 Kyle O'Quinn
6 Anthony Davis
7 Draymond Green
8 Jared Sullinger
9 Royce White
10 Arnett Moultrie
11 Ricardo Ratliffe
12 Kevin Jones
13 Andrew Nicholson
14 Andre Drummond
15 Meyers Leonard
16 Festus Ezeli
17 JaMychal Green
18 Perry Jones
19 Terrence Jones
20 Fab Melo
21 Henry Sims

Blocks per 40:
1 Anthony Davis
2 Fab Melo
3 John Henson
4 Andre Drummond
5 Kyle O'Quinn
6 Festus Ezeli
7 Andrew Nicholson
8 Terrence Jones
9 Meyers Leonard
10 Tyler Zeller
11 JaMychal Green
12 Henry Sims
13 Ricardo Ratliffe
14 Jared Sullinger
15 Drew Gordon
16 Royce White
17 Thomas Robinson
18 Draymond Green
19 Kevin Jones
20 Arnett Moultrie
21 Perry Jones

Fouls per 40 (#1 means least fouls per 40):
1 Kevin Jones
2 John Henson
3 Arnett Moultrie
4 Anthony Davis
5 Drew Gordon
6 Perry Jones
7 Andre Drummond
8 Terrence Jones
9 Royce White
10 Draymond Green
11 Thomas Robinson
12 Meyers Leonard
13 Andrew Nicholson
14 Jared Sullinger
15 Tyler Zeller
16 Henry Sims
17 Ricardo Ratliffe
18 Kyle O'Quinn
19 JaMychal Green
20 Fab Melo
21 Festus Ezeli

Any other categories you want sorted by 40?

It was actually pretty easy. Thankfully whoever created those links allowed download of the spreadsheets. Excel is my good friend.

That said, I didn't expect Melo to be so poorly ranked in all categories save Blocks.

Yes. It is shocking. He is much more of a project than I thought. Ezeli is another guy who disappoints me with his numbers. I know he was injured, but everything other than blocks is underwhelming.

As for doing the numbers- I would have taken all day trying to do that. Excel may be your friend, but math is not mine

top 3 bigs all look pretty good...T Rob's blocks per 40 is a little disappointing. that's not his game though.

...Henson's per 40 stats are pretty impressive

I know SFP has talked about drafting him with the Minny pick and said he thinks Henson can become a pretty good defensive center if you give him a few years to add weight. The stats seem to back that up as a good strategy if he lasts until 10.

It honestly does not disappoint me at all. I think blocks may be the most overvalued stat in post players. A block does not equal good defense. A block is only useful if you come away with possession. It seems some college bigs overemphasize help defense, which increases blocks, but hurts overall team defense and even more alarmingly, rebounding. They leave their man to block a shot and now you have a 4 or 5 standing on the low block with a wing wrapped around him.

I'm sure we're not the only ones looking at these numbers. Scouts have dug even deeper. That said, I would be really happy with Henson at 10.

This. Normally people who get blocks are trailing plays. In the case of AD, well he is just a beast.

On blocks:

Agree completely that it can be an overrated stat. How many of Ibakas blocks last night went back to LA?

I wish they kept a stat on the result of the block. Possession change, missed shot, made shot, etc.

Thanks for the links. I think someone is going to get a steal in the 2nd with Jae Crowder. Top 5 in every category for the wings. Doesn't have good size but he seems like he'll be a great player off the bench for 10 years.
