This could be good. For the old timers on here.

Different styles at about the same time in history. BOTH are excellent.

The last 4 songs on the Cars run together are UNREAL.

Side two of Boston is UNREAL.

The TWO clutch songs for me are Hitch a Ride-BOSTON. One of of the GREATEST RIPS OF ALL TIME.

And Their is NO ONE song that stands out on The Cars. They ARE ALL EXCELLENT.

THOUGHTS????????????????

ROCK & ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a huge fan of Boston. Saw them live and the show kinda drug. Kansas opened for them and I thought they were much better.

I put the Cars second album "Candy-O" as one of my all time faves.

The guitar rift at the end is my favorite of any song I've ever heard...I was born in '89 and this was the first CD I ever bought.
I was listening to this when all my friends were listening to NSYNC and Backstreet Boys...I think I won that music battle

Yep, Cars no doubt. I like the Cars' latest album more than any Boston.

Generally speaking, geography bands suck. Boston, Kansas, Chicago, etc.

The Cars, on the other hand, were perfect for their time.

The Cars are one of the most underrated bands in history IMHO

Let's Go
Drive
My Best Friend's Girl
Good Times Roll
Shake It Up
Just What I Needed
Moving In Stereo

Great songs

<------ This guy disagrees. Chicago had some kick arse stuff... especially first five albums and the 8th album.

Actually, I only liked them when they were still CTA. Like maybe the first two albums.

The Cars were in another league than Boston. for real

Some of yall probably know this, but for those that don't,Ric Ocasek is a bad motherfricker

quote:

Ocasek has produced many records, both while working with The Cars and since then, such as Bad Brains' Rock for Light and Guided by Voices' Do the Collapse. His other production credits include Weezer's Blue Album & Green Album (bothmulti-platinum), Suicide, Romeo Void, Hole, Bebe Buell, No Doubt, Nada Surf, Irish folk-punk band Black 47, Bad Religion, Johnny Bravo, D Generation, The Wannadies, Possum Dixon, Martin Rev, Jonathan Richman, and, most recently, the 2006 album by The Pink Spiders titled Teenage Graffiti. He also produced a portion of the third Motion City Soundtrack album, Even If It Kills Me.

The Cars were a better band, but no there is no contest when comparing these two albums; Boston's first went like 17x platinum vs The Cars first at 6x....

cough...cough!...uh, WHAT!!!

That being said, I think Boston's first album was one of the most amazing first albums of any rock band ever. Cars was fantastic too, different style of music.

Both great.

Cars easily.

...although if anyone would have said this back in the day, they would have been tarred, feathered and run out of town. Boston was this band that you were supposed to hail as one of the greatest or there was something wrong with you.
