Relocation for the Rays after their lease is up with Tropicana crap field?

If I'm the owner, I would definitely move the Rays to another city as soon as that lease is up. I just don't think Tampa has a good market to support an MLB team. Plus, the fact that the stands were still empty in the playoff runs is not good. I think the traffic and st. pete location excuses are bullshite. Every city has traffic.
I think Montreal would be a good landing spot. I know it failed last time, but that's more because Loria was a dumbass than anything else.
Here are the positives for Montreal:
1. Stadium already available until the new retractable roof stadium gets built.
2. Economy in Montreal is doing pretty well, though that may not be the case when the Rays' lease runs out. Lots could change by then.
3. Could try and buy the rights back to name them the Expos. Lots of expos fans and gear still sold in Montreal. So fanbase already is established.
4. They would be in the AL EAST. This is huge. Say they have a small stadium of about 33k. Well they play the Yanks/Sox about 19 times in their place each year. Those games will be close to sold out. The Expos-Jays rivalry will definitely be a sellout and that would be about 7-8 times per year. So, right there alone you're looking at 570k of attendance.
5. They've proven to support a winning team before. Look at the attendance in '94: the opening game was about 45k in the stands. When they realized they were winning after a few games, they averaged over 30k their last 24 games of the '94 season. That's more than the Rays ever put up in a 24 game stretch and the Rays have had relative success the past few years.

San Antonio needs to get another pro franchise so their city can find something to fap to beside Los Spurs.

Don't the Rays have a new stadium coming up?

While I don't think the Rays are going anywhere, I always wondered about Oklahoma City. I know they have the AAA Redhawks. I wonder if they would support an MLB franchise.

OKC and SA would both be great locations. They both have $$ and only one major sports franchise. OKC has the oil and gas money while SA has the hispanic population.

See, I don't foresee San Antonio doing well with a baseball team. Most of the people there are already 'stros or rangers fans or don't give a frick about baseball.
I guess they have the metro area, including Austin, but I just don't think it would net that many fans. Their AA team's attendance kind of is average.
OKC wouldn't do well at all.
I think a 3rd team in NY (brooklyn) would do well, but it would be so damn expensive to build a new stadium there.

We don't need any more texas baseball teams.

I think the A's should give up on the west coast and move to Brooklyn to be the Brooklyn A's.
That would be awesome, but would take a HUGE commitment from the owner to buy the land to build the new stadium. Plus Selig wouldn't get his head out of his arse and let that happen.

I'm not really sure, TBH. They're the 8th biggest city in America and they only have one pro franchise.... I'm just shocked the NFLL/MLB hasn't tried to move in on it yet.
My brother went to college there and I swear they are BONKERS for the spurs

I don't think Texas does well with attendance. The only reason the rangers are doing well is they have the perfect storm to increase attendance:
1. Winning
2. Recognizable name (Hamilton)
3. HOME RUNS and Offense
Before, the Rangers attendance sucked for the city they were in. The astros attendance sucks now that they're terrible.

Movin to Texas would require some realignment, or else the AL would have three Texas teams. Doesn't sit well with me.
Montreal would work; it failed the first time only because of a stadium deal.
Nashville isn't getting any smaller or less wealthy.
New York's metro area could definitely support a third team, but territorial rights would make such a move really complicated.
The biggest tv market without a team is Sacramento. Close to Oakland but just outside of their territorial radius.

I know. I used to live around there. BUT, the Spurs have won championships and that breeds a young fanbase who is more loyal to the Spurs so the Mavs and Rockets can't compete for TX fan's loyalty.
An NFL team would not do well there. EVERYBODY is a cowboys fan and a new team in San Antonio wouldn't change that. Houstonians are the exception, though there are still a fair amount of cowboys fans here.

Oakland should move to San Jose or Sacramento. If only the giants and Selig would quit being count.

I'm more positive about Montreal or Brooklyn working than any other alternative. Nashville is average in fan base, as a lot of the people aren't native to TN and already have their loyalty elsewhere, though it might work. Any thoughts entertaining TX, Norfolk, LV, Orlando, OKC, or anywhere else is just not gonna work.

San Juan is getting a team before any of the cities mentioned.

Nah. As soon as Hamilton is done in TX and they cycle back down to being average, the attendance will drop exponentially.

Nah. They had their audition with the expos. They failed.

The problem with relocation is there isn't a city or part of the country where the locals aren't already engrained fans of another team. Montreal would be the best fit, IMO; but I wonder if Canadians have adopted the Blue Jays as "their" team now and if people in Montreal would still care about having a team?
other places already have allegiances:
San Antonio.. Astros or Rangers
Nashville.. Reds or Cardinals
Sacramento.. Giants or A's
Even in Tampa Bay/St. Pete there are probably more Yankees/Red Sox fans than Rays fans.

Some have, but there is a huge rivalry between Montreal and Toronto similar to Boston-NY.

Exactly, except they're all old as frick so they don't go to the games.
The owner of the Rays should definitely leave Tampa. A new stadium would provide a little bit of an uptick, but it won't last in FL.
Montreal would do much better than Tampa long term IMO. ESPECIALLY if they are able to call them the Expos. Take the tri-color idea from the O's and make them wear this pimp arse hat:
