Did Steve Bartman contribute to SEC dominance in football?

I'm not taking any credit for this. I found it on reddit after it was posted by a Cubs/Mountaineers fan.

Here's the guy's train of thought:

Bartman's interference costs the Cubs the game. The Marlins are the benefactors and continue their season into the World Series. The Marlins share a stadium with the Dolphins. The Dolphins lose to the Patriots after Olindo Mare misses field goals. The ball was placed on the infield dirt which wouldn't have been there had the Cubs beat the Marlins. The dirt causes Mare to miss the field goals.
The Dolphins missed the playoffs by one game. The next season was even worse and Wannstedt leaves Miami for Pitt.
In 2007, he coaches Pitt to an upset of West Virginia. It knocks WV out of the title game and LSU goes on to beat Ohio State for the championship.
Rodriguez leaves West Virginia for Michigan. If WV wins, he probably doesn't leave WV. Michigan has to select another head coach (possibly Miles).
WV or Ohio State ends the SEC streak at 1. LSU probably has to rebuild with a new coach.

Here's the thread if you're interested.

No because none of that would have affected 2008 UF, 2009 Bama, 2010 Auburn or 2011 Bama

Far fetched and lots of assumptions, but I enjoyed reading it.

I'd argue you've made a bigger case for LSUs success than the SEC dominance.

You're right. I think the part that is the most far-fetched is that the SEC's streak of winning championship games has created some sort of synergy among the schools. That synergy wouldn't exist if 2007 would have ended differently. Maybe Cam decides to go to another school. Maybe Saban leaves for a Big 10 school, etc.

This part is where you make a major leap. The failure of that following season had nothing to do with Mare missing a kick in one game the previous year.

of all the leaps made, you pick wannstedt leaving miami for pitt as the biggest one?
