I didn't realize he was leaving. It's a shame he couldn't get it together as he seemed to have really good stuff.

In the notes at the bottom.

That sucks. The kid has a lot of potential.

Whatever. We're stacked in the BP.

Yeah. With that kind of potential, he must really have become a problem if Mainieri asked him to leave. With the departures that are likely from this team on the staff, you would think you could use an arm like that. Gotta keep kids that want to be here, though.

Watch him go dominate somewhere else now. Pretty early to give up on a freshman arm like that.

Yeah, that seems on par with a lot of our ex-players.

Examples? Only one I can think of is JT Wise.

Jared Bogany, TJ Forrest although we roughed him in up the 2009 CWS.

he was like the 6th best hitter on an NAIA team at the end of his college career

JT Wise is the only guy who was really good after PM kicked him off the team

He's got a dozen kids coming in, only five seniors and probably three underclassmen he's likely to lose to the draft. Gotta make room somewhere, and a kid he doesn't feel like he can trust to make good decisions is going to be the first place to start.

Baranik looks like he's got potential, but he hasn't been able to move ahead of Bourgeois, Broussard, Rumbelow, McCune or Berry, all of whom are right-handers set to come back next year.

Chris Matulis hasn't been bad either.

It wasn't the kid's arm that Mainieri gave up on.....

I think you may have the cause and effect mixed up here. When Baranik pitched, he got hitters out. It is my belief that he hasn't "passed" them because of his off the field antics. Especially considering that McCune is struggling a bit again and Berry has been sparsely used.

Names were asked for and were produced. I don't know that anyone said "oh, and only players who didn't benefit from old bats."

Also, you look at the stories of Gaudet and Rhymes, it isn't surprising that good players sometimes get away from us.

no, names of people who have "dominated somewhere else" were asked.

Cody Reine is not a very good baseball player, let alone a "dominant" player so I don't know why his name was mentioned

For whatever reason he hasn't passed them.

Mainieri knew how important this season would be to him. Whether it was on the field or off the field, he didn't like Baranik. And there are, what? Six new pitchers coming in next year? Gotta make room.
