Learning to play the piano

Just looking for some advice on learning.

Just bought this keyboard on E-Bay LINK

I play the drums so I am pretty musically inclined. Not necessarily in a technical sense, though, i.e. reading music, etc., but I have really good rhythm.

Just wondering what the best course of action would be. Find someone to teach me lessons? Books? Any advice is appreciated.

Depends on what you want out of it. If you just want to be able to play and write and you live in NOLA,you're around some of the finest musicians in the world, some of whom probably also teach for cash. Take advantage of that.

Good call. I'd like to be able to play and write some and get to the point where I could perform either alone or with a group at small venues around town. I'm sure I won't be short of opportunities in this city.

I taught myself not long ago. started off by learning each individual note then learned the chords and go from there. Worked for me at least.
