So Memphis flew all the way to Los Angeles for a "western conference" playoff game. How the hell is this geographically convenient? Isn't that what the divisions, inside the coastal conferences are supposed to accomodate? frick, the Grizzlies should be in the Eastern conference they should really look at that in realignment, they haven't been in Vancouver in over 10 years. Seems unfair to the Memph-show, putting a financial strain on them to play the Cali teams, and the Blazers often.

Not exactly a huge financial strain for a professional team that travels all over the country for games anyway.

The distance between Memphis and LA is not much greater than the distance between Miami and Boston, FWIW.

And which team should they switch conferences with? Indiana? Chicago? Wouldn't make much sense.

Either of those teams would make more sense in the West than Memphis. Memphis is on the completely opposite coast.

Which Eastern Conference team is in a geographically friendlier place?

None of the EC cities are further west than Memphis.

According to this map Memphis is further west than Indy or Chicago

Travel is not a big deal this day and age regarding sports teams. Memphis is in the same time zone as the Texas teams among others.

I'm hoping the OP doesn't actually know where Memphis is, that would make this thread much better.

Wow.

Regardless...I like Memphis in the west. Much rather see those teams twice in a year in Memphis than any team in the east. And if travel puts a financial strain on a professional team, they need to fold.

I don't think this thread is getting enough attention for how bad it is.

Absolutely not. One of the most ridiculous statements of the week, IMO.

It is half the size of Gulfport and no where close to Jackson.

So maybe it's not on the coast, but it's pretty damn east. I don't know, to each his own.
