Not sure why I haven't madde the journey yet but going tonight. The gf's mother came into town to meet me and have dinner. I'd appreciate your reccomendations. TIA

ETA-Thanks for the pointers. We walked in, found a table and sat ourselves. The service was actually quite good and the waitress very helpful. My only complaint..I ordered the Bella Lasagna but got the regular, not being a big complainer and definitely not picky, I ate it anyway. I thought it was ok. The gf ordered the pesto ravioli and enjoyed it, as well as a little bit too much wine. Her mother ordered the eggplant parm and said it was very good. The evening was very nice and despite getting my order wrong I think I will try them again. I love the ambience and overall feel of the place since I'm not big on chains. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I think they over pepper every dish.

Bring your Pledge and a dust rag too.

I hate that place.

Worst service I have ever received.

I've only been once and the service was painfully slow. I got the spaghetti and it was like a water and tomato sauce.. no thickness whatsoever to it.

Definitely slow there. They are trying to give you the European experience. American's arent use to it. I had a really good time there knowing what I was getting myself into in advance.

I love it but I reccommend a rolled up newspaper in one hand and a fork in the other. Eat with one, slap roaches with the other.

I hate that this board is filled with so many Pinetta's pussies. Pinetta's is a good neighborhood restaurant. The food is good, but not stellar. It's a good date place, not too expensive, and I for one like their dark spicy sauce.

The old (previous incantation) of Pinetta's was dirty- but before it reopened again the whole place was cleaned top to bottom and I don't find it dirty at all much less "roachy". I think some folks just say that because it's old-looking and dark in there. Service is definitely spotty and slow.

Still, the place has it's own charm. It has personality. I just don't get the hate.

Once they all run behind the dust-caked pictures on the wall, you might be able to enjoy your meal.

No hate here. But I've been eating there for over 40 years and it's still the same as then.

The one that makes a Croatian-style sauce simmered for three days with some cinnamon in it.

I've never been to Europe, but unless the waiter spilling wine on me, and shaking a water pitcher at my friend is "European", then they just suck arse.

I even went and talked to the owner about it, and all she did was tell me about how bad her day was because her parents were sick.

Make sure to pack a flash light, you can't see anything in there.

On second thought, leave the light at home, no telling what is hidden behind that cloak of darkness.

It is dusty and old much like most of new orleans. There are no roaches. The dark sauce is good and I now can make it at home. It is super inexpensive. I always get the eggplant parmesan and it never disappoints. My friends love the Bella lasagna which is the vegetable lasagna.
